It is Friday already! The weather has been great here - today promises to be just as nice. Mike is golfing this afternoon so I am not sure what I will do, though a bath for Justice may be on the agenda as he smells a bit "doggy" this morning. Probably from running around on the beach which we will do shortly. He does like his freedom here as he is also able to go out in the yard without a leash. The yard is big enough and the area quiet enough that I don't worry about him. He never goes behind the point where he can see me (and comes immediately when called).

Speaking of dogs, everyone keeps sending me a link to a NY Times article on 4000 beagles to be rehomed after being rescued from a sketchy breeder. I had 3 beagles during my lifetime so my friends and family assume I have a special interest. Which of course I do, but I really can't manage another dog! It is tempting though.

Diane S, 7 hours is too long a shift at this point in life IMHO. I am glad Batgirl came to amuse you. CC, good luck with the Sedona run. So exciting how quickly the move came. DD, hopefully you and DH continue to test negative for COVID.

Time to walk on the beach! Have a fine Friday!

Another beautiful day here! It keeps raining at night, bringing sunny, fresh mornings. There is no air conditioning in our cottage, but we have had little issue.

Not sure yet what our plans are, besides helping with the tag sale once we test negative this afternoon. Tomorrow, DH will drive DD to Salem for her class, and I will work at the tag sale with my Aunt and Uncle.

We had a great unplanned day in Rockport, Ma yesterday. As we were driving back from the airport, DH said where should we have lunch. Lobster Pool again. Per our discussion of sleeve size, I can eat the whole lobster roll, but basically none of the frys. Frys are just filler anyhow. Lobster is what I came for. :) We walked around town and browsed in shops, etc. I am enchanted with this town.

Minnesota and work feel so far away right now. I had a small apprehension when we were planning this that maybe I would find I'm more of a creature of habit than I know and wouldn't actually like being away this long. I needn't have worried. :)

I think that mostly staying in the same place and not being at a hotel allows one to feel enough "at home". I feel tired and a little stressed when there are too many multi-day side-trips requiring packing. I was pretty relaxed when we stayed put in the Florida Keys most of the time.

A quick check in for me.... I've been super busy with puppies, puppy people visits, grooming, etc.... Goat v2.0 is back for the weekend only and then back to the shop because one more part has yet to arrive.... They also didn't replace the door latch... UGH! I may have to switch shops. Kills me because I like these guys and it's close.

Off to Carmel Valley (not seaside) for a 2 day dog show. I think Ron is regretting having given me permission to go. The pups are a lot of work now at 7 and 8 weeks.

I am sad that in less than a month I will be back at school full time. This summer has gone by far too fast for my liking.

Weight is stable. I was on a downward trend until I flew up to Seattle and back on Tuesday. Not great eating and flying always make for inflammation. C'est la vie.

CC - hope the trek to Sedona was smooth and filled with anticipation for your next chapter to begin.

Puppy life is crazy! I hate to say it but your RV stories (added to others) make me glad I don't have one. Stop thinking about a month from now: Enjoy your sunmer time! I feel like I sometimes killed the moments when I was young anticipating going back to work.

Late post but I will be driving tomorrow so...

The drive was uneventful and took 7 hours total with stops for coffee, gas, and a potty break. Not bad! And for my SUV being huge with a big, fast engine, its eco mode is pretty good! I got 28 mpg up to the last hour and a half when it was 107 through Phoenix and my a/c was chugging. Even then it did 26. It's no electric car, but it's better than any other SUV I've had.

The house is nice. Smelled clean when I came in. But as time went on, I started to hate the smell. I realized it just doesn't smell like home. Smells like a detergent I'd never pick. But I suppose that's better than a whole host of other things it could smell like! The owners are kind of Type A, so lots of notes everywhere about what not to do. It feels like I'm in a stranger's house... After I got all my stuff out of the car, I got a little teary. Finally the "what have I done?" feelings have started. I wondered where they were as this was too easy for someone who hates change! So I have flashes of severe mover's remorse and scary aloneness mixed with "wow, this place is gorgeous".

I think some of the bad/scared feelings are fear for my dad. He's still in the hospital with the less than ideal kidney function and a horrible cough. It's hard for him to talk as he collapses into a couching fit that's hard to listen to. Very scary, very sad for him, and I'm worried. He is flying to Mayo for appointments on July 31.

And on top of all, I feel so fat! I gained back all the Covid weight I worked so hard to get off and it feels awful. Sigh.

And my mail forwarding still hasn't arrived even though it was processed on July 3rd. The post office is so inept! Anyway, just means I can't get my license because I have no documentation with this address yet.

Anyway, enough of all that. We had a cool thunderstorm tonight. It really is a pretty place!

To get my Florida license I printed a couple of credit card statements with my Florida address.
