The gas cap/drive did indeed solve the check engine light!

We have used that little trick more than a few times. Told it (check engine light) is caused when the gas cap is not completely tight on the lip. The extra air that gets in the tank somehow screws up the cars emissions sensor. After gassing up we try to remember to screw the cap until it clicks several times.

The strange thing is, mine only turns like a quarter turn, so it's hard to not put it on tight enough! I even tried to make it tighter before I redid it and it felt tight, but I think the thin cord holding the cap to the car got caught between the cap and the car.
