COVID strikes again - in DD's family. Lately it does seem like it is inevitable that everyone is going to get it probably repeatedly in the future. Hopefully over time that means it will lose more and more of the worst aspects. So many people we know have had it in the last few months that I am almost surprised when someone says that no one in their household has had it yet.

Yesterday we beached it. I was careful with my food until I had a small soft-serve ice cream after dinner. A little bit of dumping from that but not bad.

Today I am going to the Falmouth street fair, leaving in about 1.5 hours. Mike has all kinds of errands and projects he has planned for his day with Justice "helping".

After a couple of very windy and fairly clear days this morning it is very still and muggy, which is not unusual for a Cape Cod summer. I guess that is why the longer term forecast shows showers on many days.

Time to get my second cup of coffee. Have a winning Wednesday!

Yes, Covid has us quarantined to some extent. We will not be in person with my Aunt and Uncle until Friday. If we are symptom free and negative tests, we will help them with their tag sale on Saturday. We're pondering whether DH and I are okay to go outdoor dining. We've been exposed, but aren't sick (so far!)

Another quiet day. It was hot and sticky yesterday. Today looks lovely, at least so far. Very fresh. Even on very hot days, it seems to cool down nicely here overnight, making it possible to sleep without air conditioning.

Food isn't as good as it was at the beginning of the trip. My husband brought a few treats, probably in response to stress. They'll probably be gone soon...

Enjoy your street fair day Liz. Its exciting that events we've missed in the last two years are on again! It sounds like a very fun day with your SILs.

Stayed the same scale weight despite the "spoon in the peanut butter" multiple times. I'm doing better at weaning self off the cheap carbs, but obviously have transferred the grazing to fats. While the calorie cost is probably the same, I'll take it. For me, fats do not negatively affect me the same way as quick carbs that instantly turn to sugar.

As to escaping the consequences of the unnecessary calories just because the scale didn't move THIS morning- well, "fool me once, scales- shame on you; fool me twice (or a thousand times), shame on ME". I do think I'm making some progress - I find myself using Cecily's "delay " tactic more and more.

Finally-finally got my self a much needed hair cut. Of late have stopped in front of mirrors again. Hair a total train wreck as I hadn't darkened the hairdresser's door in a year and a half (at least) due to complete disinterest and neglect of my appearance.

(Selfies look so silly and unnatural), but the self-care aspect is so healing. Next step maybe a return to a bit of make up, maybe?

DS is bouncing back well from Covid. He thinks he can go home tomorrow night. So Covid, pretty much tamed, but new heartache for the boy (my boy, but actually a man right, as he comes up on 27 soon...) His girlfriend broke up with him! He's not too sad, because he never intended to start dating so soon after his break up with his long-term girlfriend in February. Anyhow, he met this woman in March, and they hit it off. He thought they would have fun together, but she wanted to be serious, so he thought why not. She had never had a long term relationship, not even with the fathers of her children. So we talked about red flags, when someone comes on too fast, too soon, probably won't last. (of course there are exceptions). So he doesn't seem heartbroken too much, and seems to understand she probably wasn't going to stay with him either, no matter what he did. But not the best week for him. We had a long heart to heart though, so that was good. He's a good man. I hope he finds whatever it is he wants for his life.

That's what moms do- stand there, look them in the eye, and take the hurt as it comes pouring out- and still hang in there - that's love. Well done, mom.
