VSG Maintenance Group
Friday, July 1, 2022
And just like that it is July 4th weekend. The weather looks decent today so perhaps I will go to the beach for a bit while Mike plays golf. I probably should go get my car inspected first though. This afternoon we may go to the winery where our friend is sand-carving. He and several others made a great sculpture there last year.
DD, her DH, Mike and I had a great time meeting yesterday and talking as if we had known each other for years (which I guess DD and I have)! Wouldn't it be cool if our whole group could meet somewhere though that might be a stretch as we are literally all over the world.
Not much else going on - I need to calm Justice down as there is a cat taunting him from the bushes around the house and he is going rather crazy. I think he gets primed a bit by the cat he lives with when she is in the mood. So funny as both cats are bigger than he is.
Have a fabulous Friday!
ETA: That wasn't a cat: There is a skunk under my front porch! I started to smell it before Justice got sprayed (I took him out on his leash to investigate). We ran inside and closed the doors on the front of the house. I guess there is a reason he was so crazy!

OMG, close call! Nobody needs a dog sprayed by a skunk!!!
A group meet up would be crazy fun. Maybe some day...
Today we are going to have lunch at a local winery. They make a wine called Plum Island Red that we really like. We're hoping we can buy a decent quantity since we can bring it home in the car. We've brought a bottle or two home in the past in checked luggage, which always makes me a little nervous.
After breakfast with Liz and Mike, Pat went for a bike ride, and I read on the patio. The weather has been outstanding! Later we had dinner at my Aunt and Uncles house. I'm going to miss their house, it's one of the oldest houses in Ipswich, circa 1687, and is meticulously restored.
Tomorrow we are going to a concert in Rockport, Ma which is probably my favorite town here on Cape Ann.
It's really lovely living in this little house. So relaxing because there are not one million chores to consider. I do small tasks like wash dishes, sweep the floor, take out the recycling, etc. Makes me think decluttering my own home would make life so much easier and more serene. But those are thoughts and tasks for another time. Right now I need to decide what I want to wear to a winery. :)
Enjoy the winery! The thought of a really small house with a nice porch really speaks to me too these days.

A whole group meet up would be wonderful!!
My thoughts on skunk smell: There's "ew, there must be a skunk nearby" and there is OH MY GOD tending to a dog that has been directly sprayed by a skunk (and the subsequent 10-12 months that they continue to reek of skunk when they get wet). The two are MILES apart on the horror scale! You and Justice escaped within an inch of your lives!
I can't believe it's July already. The countdown begins... 19 days until I am completely out of my house. Eek.
Chili and movie night was so much fun! We laughed until tears were shed and pants were nearly peed. Couldn't explain what was so funny, but that's what happens when you share the same sense of humor...
No plans today, so time to check the list of things to get done and get cracking!
Enjoy your days!
I had several previous dog sprayed experiences - really awful (and exhausting cleaning the dog enough to get them to a professional cleaner). Not with Justice though.

Greetings all
Uh oh, skunk under the porch. Not good. I have had two dogs sprayed by skunks in the back yard. Major mess. I still have a bottle of skunk off in the laundry. Awhile back there was a skunk living under our front porch. I left it alone but I know it was there because of occasional smell and foot prints going in and out. I was always afraid it would die under there. I also plotted to block off that hole so it had to move but would have had to do it in the middle of the night. Glad you avoided this disaster Liz.
I slept later than usual today as I woke up with a scratchy throat. I don't think I am sick but will take a covid test before we go to our friends on the 4th. I will be making grilled onions with blue cheese on top. Stopped at the store and got a ton of sweet onions.
Winery DD! Food looks good! If you ever come up here I have a winery or two to take you too. Speaking of which, this one used to have this summer art and wine festival which was a great event and also had grilled oysters. A victim of covid alas but maybe they will do it again someday.
I got some slices of meatloaf at the deli today. No clue if it is any good but only one way to find out.
There is a neighbor cat who has made a nest in our heather garden in the front yard. Drives our dogs nuts as they can see it out the window. No cats dare come in our back yard. Speaking of wildlife, a bear was spotted in our neighborhood about a block from our house! This neighborhood is not that woodsy, unlike other areas where they hit the trash cans.
Well this post reads like a Seinfeld episode: about nothing. So thats it for now.
