Lots of reflection on regain, dysfunctional eating, and exercise yesterday. It made me reflect on why I haven't gained (or lost) anything in the last 6 months. I realized that I have not binged at all during that period. I have eaten what I wanted at meals, had some snacks, and had small amounts of dessert (enough to satisfy my sweet tooth). That apparently has been a good approach to keeping away the need to binge. Truthfully my most dysfunctional eating was the binging which I started doing in my late teens and continued more often than not until around the time I met Mike. And THAT was what has been the most responsible for me gaining lots of excess weight. This is actually an epiphany for me as I hadn't thought about the fact that it had been that long since I succumbed to that behavior - probably longer than at any other point in my adult life. But I am not a fool and realize that it could come back in an extended time of stress.
As to exercise, I have always believed that walking was the most important act as my grandmother kept walking daily until her late 90's (she died at 101). She never did any other exercise. However though that is #1, doing some flexibility work and core strengthening seems to be needed at this point in life as I am feeling the negative affects of not doing that since I stopped doing yoga when COVID started.
Yesterday's Celebration of Life for DD's friend went well. Several people came to me to tell me how much they loved DD (as did her friend who was my generation). I sat next to DD's BF's Mom and had a good chat. We left a little after 1 and we're home around 7:30. A long day but it was good that we went. DD had a lot of angst over doing it after she found out that her friend died from cirrhosis. The woman had always said that when she died she wanted them all to have a party at that pub but DD really anguished over it. She called the woman's daughters to discuss it and they felt it was the right thing to do. But neither was there while I was. One has already returned to her home in another state. The other did come at the beginning but just couldn't stay (it was too much for her).
Today is laundry and maybe checking out SIL's rental house. Mike says she should be complaining to the realtor about every little thing but so far the place has exceeded expectations.
Have a marvelous Monday!

Good morning! Enjoying another wonderful weather day 65 this morning- windows full opened as they were yesterday- and wishing this were more the norm instead of exception.
Binging?it, too, is part of my experience. Feeling free of it is often an indicator of well being - due to the splendid and delightful course your life has taken. So good.
I recall a post years ago on the main forum regarding finding the optimal weight range to maintain. Poster said they had lost down to xxx#s and loved the way they looked, but had gained XX#s back, was maintaining, and wanted to know if it was realistic and desirable to lose back down to lower weight. A wise vet framed her answer this way:
There is a weight range (A) that can be maintained (using sleeve wisely) with mindful moderate effort. There is another, lower weight range (B) that while attainable, must be very tightly maintained with much effort and constant vigilant attention and perhaps more than a little deprivation.
The question is really, ?HOW do you want to live your life?? The honest answer will determine the weight range to maintain and depends on what your perceived purpose in life is.? Either answer is correct - If what you really want in life is determined by body image, occupational or external requirements, choose B. If what you really want in life is sacrificed because much of your energy and focus is on body image or what that type of body will gain you, then choose A.
Either choice is correct -depends on what you determine makes your life meaningful and worthwhile.
I think my choice of avatar (is that the right term for the little picture I use to identify miss150 ?). has everything to do with my inner child. When I first made goal I thought to change the picture out to a grown up me. That was 9 years ago (OMGosh, this Dec. will be my 10 year surgiversary!) but I don?t think I ever will. It is she that brought to this place, and who deserves every good thing this journey has provided me.

Hi friends! Just a quick note while I'm on my lunch at work. Getting back to tracking my eating on My Fitness Pal is for sure helping. I'm already down a few pounds (most likely water weight, but I will take it).
Interesting conversations the last few days on here. Love to hear everyone's thoughts and experiences! I've missed you all!
I like the idea of figuring out that happy maintenance weight range, where you feel healthy and don't have to work too hard to stay there. I'm thinking that will be in the 140's for me.

I am riding a high of changing out an under cabinet light in my kitchen! One of then was finicky about turning on with the wall switch. Sometimes it would come on with the others, sometimes it took flipping the switch on and off 20 times. Fluorescent lights are hard to find these days - most under cabinet lighting is LED now. But that would have meant replacing 6 fixtures and I wasn't up for that. So I tracked down one that would work, but there was no hole or knockout on the new fixture box lining up where the wires came out of the wall. I tracked down a circular drill bit that would go through metal and got some drill oil, put it in the vice and got to work. It worked (my arm is sore today)! And it's installed and turns on immediately. I hadn't put it on the disclosure list because I thought I'd need an electrician for the backyard lights that won't come on, but then they said they didn't want me to fix anything. Whew, done!
Saw another rat on camera. Grr.
Food wasn't super yesterday and I didn't walk. I know what to do. I just need to do it.
Boy, you are addressing way more than it would occur to most sellers!

Greetings all
A slow cloudy day here. Lengthy phone call plus me sleeping late made me late getting out of the house. Did studio payroll and a bit of glazing. Then I stopped at the hippy dippy grocery store for one of their pot pies. Scored. I also found beef shank bones that the little dog loves. Keeps her busy and away from bugging her grandpa. And grandpa dog is now orbiting and lobbying for food.
I must really find some very convenient and healthy foods. There is only so much chicken breast that can be consumed in one lifetime. Yeah I should do a protein drink daily. I should I should I should.
CC so cool that you fixed those lights. Buyers of your home are so lucky!!
I am thinking about all the talk about walking. I should just do it even if its a tiny bit. Some days I just feel too tired and I know its my fat thighs talking.

Quick check in, as it is almost tomorrow (11:32pm here). Today we took my Aunt to some appointments in Boston. While we waited, DD worked in her apartment, and DH and I went to lunch in Jamaica Plains (her neighborhood). I had a to die for clam chowder. I love fish and seafood on the east coast! You can get some very nice white fish from Lake Superior at home, but fish from regular lakes does nothing for me.
There was a huge table of rowdy people in the restaurant. We discovered that they were teachers celebrating their last day of school. Chatted with them, and the principal stopped by our table to talk with me about teaching. I told her I was going to have to move to Massachusetts and get try and get a job at her school because her staff was too much fun. As we left they were chanting, shot, shot, shot. :)
Crazy teachers here in Massachusetts (glad to be off for the summer)! Mike and I spent last summer looking for our favorite clam chowder. The winner was at the Boston Sail Loft on the Harbor. It has fresh dill in it which makes it rather unique. We stop there almost every time we are in Boston.
