I think your approach is the prevailing best standard of care when interacting with someone with dementia. My Grandma was sometimes harsh with my Grandpa when he became more confused. It surprised me, because she was a nurse, and they had a very respectful relationship. Care giving is tough, very tough, and I think too, there is the element of fear as you see your loved one slipping away, realizing it is only going to get worse. Your Dad and brother are lucky you can come and help and take some pressure off the both of them.

Yes, my nephew's wife, my niece by marriage, is my hair stylist. :) I am so happy to give her my business and chat for an hour about my grand nephews.

Your brother may revise his approach with time. Sometimes it is difficult to accept the changes so we keep trying to "help" (ie correct). Often with time we realize the need to adopt new techniques.

Greetings all

Liz is "Liz and the Pips". Lol how did they ever all get that same shirt. Love it.

I was busy today at least for me. Getting stuff to the thrift store, giving some to my neighbor whose daughter is going to live in the lime green school bus during college (what a hoot), getting trash and recycle stuff out, going to studio and glazing and carving and signing checks and teaching people stuff. Then the usual round of feeding dogs and such. Phew makes me tired even though its not much.

DD glad you got the hair done even though its a long drive. Gas prices are affecting everything. I say this as I smugly drive my electric car. But electiricy is not free. DH wants to put in solar panels and I am thinking he is right even though it does not pencil out. Independence rocks.

Eating is meh. Mostly chicken salad on a muffin.

DH is having fun and thats good. Will put him in a good mood for when he finds out what I am up to. But I am just moving stuff around and only trashing real trash (she said).

Hug those pups Peps. They are adorable.

"just moving stuff around and only trashing real trash"! Yep! That's the best description ;)
