Today we are going to try snorkeling again. Right now it doesn't look like any rain is likely and the winds are supposed to be less than the last couple of days so cross your fingers!

Last night friends from North Carolina arrived. We haven't seen them since 2018 when they were last here. So great catching up. We were on the beach until almost 8 so had a light meal at the bar last night (leftovers in the fridge). Tough news from them about their son's family. Their second child had a rare cancer diagnosed when he was about a year old. They thought he had beat it and had a third child. Since then, the middle one had yet another rare form of cancer recur and lost his leg to it. Testing has revealed a rare genetic disorder which causes these cancers. The wife apparently has it but didn't know. She is 30 and just had her "first" cancer, a breast cancer requiring a complete mastectomy. The other two children haven't been tested yet but regardless this family has a doomed future. Just so hard to understand how this can happen in this world of medical science.

Tonight is a relatively fancy dinner out (the same tomorrow and Thursday). Then we fly home with the two puppies in two. Here is a link to the Facebook page for this organization which has lots of puppy pics on it: https://www.newlifeforpaws.org/

Have a thoughtful Tuesday!

I just realized that I had the dates wrong on my last 3 posts (I corrected them). I guess I am losing time here in Aruba, LOL!

Its going to be a scorcher today! I'm going to run a few errands and get started on some packing.

We are going to an Anniversary party for my cousin on Saturday. I heard my DH talking to BFF asking if she was coming too. She has a grad party for her cousin's daughter to attend. And then I heard her I add, I wasn't invited. She said it twice. I later had to pull DH aside and remind him of this. True, I didn't invite her she doesn't know my cousin well, (she did meet him a few times when we were teenagers), and she's never met his wife. I want to go without her, because I haven't seen my cousin or his children since before Covid. His daughter has since married, and I haven't met her in laws yet either.

We have been invited to a friends house this Friday evening. We are trying to figure out how to go without her. Normally she is included, but we haven't seen them for months, and I'd like the chance to visit with them just the 4 of us. She has asked a couple of times already, when are we going to Bob's house? It's so hard to say, we're going on Friday, but you're not. She just won't stay in her lane. For example, I'm holding my great nephew for the first time, and she has to come and cover his little head with kisses. Step back, give me my quiet moment with him. It really gets on my nerves, and it gets her the opposite of what she wants. It makes me more guarded about what I tell her. She repeats my stories to other people as if they are her stories. Anyhow... We will be traveling shortly.

Time to get on with my plans. Hope everybody has an awesome day.

Hmmm... tough to deal with friends who overstep.

Overstepping while living in your house. Sigh. This all started when she and her husband seperated. She came to stay and settled in. After a few years of her just basically showing up and not giving an end time (sometimes she was here 6-8 weeks!!) I started texting her ahead, what are your summer plans? What 2 weeks will you be staying with us? But due to Covid, and people moving, it looks like her other couch surfing options have dried up again. We're going to be gone most of the summer, so I just have to deal a few more days. But I will institute the 2 week rule again for Christmas. I just enjoy het company so much more if we are not in the same house day after day.

And it is pouring here in Aruba AGAIN! We may be doomed to not snorkel after bringing our masks and fins all this way.

Seems like tropical storm season is underway early this year. Here's hoping for a sunny day before you leave.

Yes but usually the tropical storms pass by Aruba! It is still warm and relaxing reading our books.

Hmm. No more rat sightings on camera the last few nights. Maybe I got him?

I was mostly lazy yesterday, but did drag myself out for a walk at 8:30pm. I forgot how much I like walking at night. Feels like I'm in my own world and no one is looking at me. And it's so much more comfortable out of the blazing sun. I will miss the trail by my house when I leave. But I'm trading it in for pretty amazing trails in Sedona.

I went ahead and submitted the application for the rental in Sedona. It's got it's own pool in the backyard. Maybe I'll break down and swim a bit! I should hear in 24-48 hours.

Today I've got a financial meeting for the board, but nothing else. I'm watching the lizards sunning themselves in backyard. I think all the increase in wildlife back there stems from Fergie being gone...

Have a lovely day wherever you are!
