DD's friend did not take care of herself. No one will be surprised if the cause is alcohol related as I would guess she had been an alcoholic most of her adult life. Functional and pleasant but she really liked her liquor.

Deceased DH ended up in the ER at the end because his dementia caused him to be violent with his caregivers. Ultimately the only way to control him was to fill him full of drugs until he was essentially in a coma. I guess his brain just disconnected in the end. But seeing how much the physicians resisted giving him chemicals until it was clear that drugs or severe restraints were needed makes one wonder if they do the same with someone who potentially could be brought to an aware but nonviolent state.
