By this time tomorrow morning we will be on our way to Nashville. My clothes are mostly packed, so today is laundry, refrigerator emptying, cleaning and car packing. It is always sad to go but of course look forward to seeing my family and friends up North. I will miss the alone time that Mike and I enjoy here though.
Yesterday we had a nice day including a brunch (timed more like "linner") at the clubhouse. Mike was still not feeling great yesterday but this morning says he is 90% (and looks like it). That's a relief as we have a lot of driving to do, including a full day in Nashville.
Have a safe and healthy Monday!

The painters start today and are now power washing the house (And I somehow turned off my alarm and overslept so that was an unpleasant way to wake up to a doorbell). Why do I feel like a 13th century castle dweller trapped under siege in my castle when workers are here?
How's this for procrastination? I've owned my house for over 16 years and it was new when I bought it. The door handles are all Kwikset and deteriorated over time so that shiny nickel outside handles all turned a dull corroded gold and the two most used into the garage and the backyard wiggled and were hard to open. I read in my house paperwork that the door hardware had a lifetime warranty, so I called and they asked for pictures and sent me 5 new door handle sets and deadbolts! ...and then they sat in the box in the garage for at least 5 years while I hemmed and hawed about who I was going to get to put them in and rekey them.
I was talking to a friend about needing to get on installing them with the house painters coming and they said they replaced one themselves, something that never occurred to me! So yesterday I watched a YouTube video, opened boxes and gave it a try. And ended up replacing all 5 myself! And they have a smart key feature so you can rekey them yourself in a few seconds, so no locksmith needed. What an enormous difference visually and functionally!! Why do I wait on these things??
Hope you all have a great day and safe travels, Liz! I loved TN.
Wow! I am impressed by your skill!

Mike and I just spoke over the phone with a long-term friend of his who I have also become close to over the last couple of years. While riding his motorcycle, their son (age 40 more or less) wa**** head-on by a driver who crossed into the wrong lane. He lost his left hand (they could not reattach it) and his legs, arms and pelvis are broken in multiple places. Luckily he had a great helmet on so did not sustain any brain injury though he does have cracks in his skull. A life-shattering accident for him and his entire family. He is strong and young but at minimum there will be months of care and rehab. Life can change in an instant.

So, so lucky.

Hope all you moms (of humans or animals) had a nice day yesterday. Ron and I are both motherless, so it was just a normal Sunday for us - lots of church for him, lots of grooming for me.
Dinah's maternity trim is complete. Just have to do a "sanitary trim" shortly before she whelps. Now to finish up Dottie's trim.
I have an IEP after school, and will have to pull a long haul stay day on Wednesday if I am to be ready for Open House on Thursday. Not to worry. Just how it has to be this year.
I had a nice session with the nutritional counselor on Friday. I'm "Honest" logging for three days. It's not easy to be 100% honest without getting judgy with myself OR modifying my eating so it looks good on paper. Flipping eating disorder! I have to make a commitment to get at least a few pounds off and if this is the way I have to start, so be it...
