Happy Mother's Day to us all! Mother's of children, animals, and friends at times.

The assisted living discussion yesterday was thought-provoking. MIL went to independent care voluntarily at a place where one could transition to assisted living. She cried when making the decision and moving there because it felt like an end of life move. She was right - she did stay in her apartment supported by assisted living, and ultimately died there at 97. Deceased DH obviously couldn't make the decision on his own but I probably waited longer than I should have in some ways. But at least everyone was ready when he moved. Since he died within 3 months a piece of me wonders if in the back of his mind he made a decision that it was time to leave. I hope that Mike and I are smart about doing something like my MIL, but I totally understood how she felt at the time and I know I would have the same struggle. My wish is to pass away in my sleep before I can't take care of myself (but not anytime soon).

Onto the current priorities: Today I will begin packing - the first step is separating out what to leave vs. bring. Always a difficult one though the things that are too small to fit into can stay LOL. Mike and I are going to a Mother's Day Brunch at the clubhouse in the mid-afternoon.

Enjoy your day!

So far for Mother's Day my children sent me lovely texts and flowers arrived yesterday. DD is in Massachusetts, DS is in Wisconsin, and DH is at work. I slept in, and then went shopping. I needed new pants, but came home with 3 sundresses instead! They were so deeply on clearance, and I love just popping a sun dress on when the weather is nice, so I had to buy them. :) And when I say clearance, I mean clearance, the total for 3 dresses was $28.00.

I'm feeling better, but even so, I had to stop and buy a diet coke midway through shopping and sit for a bit. But yes, much better than last week.

When DH gets home, we will probably go out to dinner. I'd be fine with grilling steak at home, but he'll feel like he needs to do something special, even though he's worked all day. If we go out, then he gets a break too.

Back to work Monday, where I have a meeting at 7:15 am for a student who comes to school, but refuses to engage, sitting in class drawing, or simply won't converse with any teacher. And then after school, a meeting for a student who has not been to school since spring break, despite multiple interventions. And of course, 5 classes to teach. So kind of a heavy duty day. Perhaps a nice dinner out tonight is warranted! The good news, we finish on June 10, so, one.more.month. Yesss.

Greetings all

Happy Mothers Day! I am a mother of dogs only and they are not doing much for me. I have to cook for them as usual. But I am enjoying a blob of bacon gorgonzola potato salad. Guilty pleasure. More pot roast tonight and thats the end.

My friend with the cancer diagnosis is now in the hospital with a brain bleed. So things are not going well there. So more old age stuff to think about. I worry about the day when neither of us can drive. Uber I guess.

Not much else. Studio tomorrow and puppy reunion Tuesday. Thats plenty of stuff for me.

It poured rain this morning. A good day to sleep in.

DD score on the sundresses. May you have occasion to wear them soon. Pants shopping is the worst experience in the world. Seems like everything is out of proportion and too tight. Wonder why that is?

Cheers. Diane S

Happy Mothers Day to you all - Hope you all have a wonderful day and are spoilt.

I had a lovely Mothers Day, DH cooked me breakfast at the farm before we headed back to the city house. My mum came over around 3pm so we had some quality time before the rest of my kids and grandbabies came. My DSD and her partner didnt make it as their housemate has COVID and they hadnt been feeling well - though continue to test negative. I was totally spoilt with their company and also lovely gifts. My family is my world.

I am picking up my grandbabies after work tonight and tomm as their mum is on the closing shift at work. It makes me so happy to see their faces light up when they see me arrive. Apart from that, its a Monday here and I am swamped with work but thats normal. I have 4 tenders to complete and submit within the next 8 days so I had best get back to it

Will try and pop back to catch up on everyones news but wanted to at least pop in while I eat my lunch at my desk and say hi

Have a wonderful evening
