We spent our 3rd to last night in my Florida home. Bittersweet.
Last night we had dinner at one of our favorite places here. We ate at the bar because a table requires a reservation a week in advance and we like the bar anyway. When we got there we followed the usual custom of letting people ahead of us take empty bar stools, but this bubble butt girl grabbed a stool at a side table by running in before I could get there. I let it go because I prefer the bar anyway. But then the bubble butt girl starts flying over to grab bar seats when they opened up. Thank goodness for a good bartender who told her that we had been there waiting much longer than she had so they were ours. The girl looked at her like she had 3 heads. Annoying when people can't apply common courtesy.
I am using my iPad even though I have no Wi-Fi here. I was able to figure out how to use my iPhone as a hotspot. Very cool!
We leave in a few hours to meet a friend in Naples for brunch. We might stop in Captiva on the way back. Our goal today and tomorrow are to visit our favorite places on this coast before I don't have a place to sleep here.
Have a safe and healthy Sunday!

One of my cousins just bought a house (two actually, they are renting one) in North Captiva. I guess you have to get to that by boat?
We saw The Duke yesterday. Finally, an entertaining feel-good movie!! Then we gorged on burgers and fries. I was so uncomfortable when we got home. Ugh.
I need to go to the grocery store in a bit, but otherwise no plans today. My friend leaves early Tuesday morning. Funny how a month flies by.
I guess you do have to take a boat there!

Liz funny about that bittersweet feeling, isn't it. Makes me think of Joni Mitchell, "Something's lost, and something's gained, in living every day". Another quote I like, don't know who to attribute it to, Change always comes bearing gifts. But its true, we welcome the new gifts, but there is a tug when we say goodbye to the old ones.
CC, I haven't heard of this movie, I'll have to check it out. That's a good friend who makes a month's stay seem short!
My son and his friend departed. It was nice to spend a chunk of time with my son, minus the oppressive former girl friend. He told me once he got past the sad heart break stage he discovered he had more time to spend on things he likes to do like mountain biking, and he has more money. He is seeing someone else on a pretty casual basis, and seems to be having fun. As it should be.
You probably wouldn't be surprised if I told you the high today was upper 40s and its overcast. Its probably good I had a lunch planned with friends or I wouldn't have left the house this weekend. Our discussion about bit coin was interesting. I don't know much of anything about economics, so the whole concept feels sort of fairy tale stuff to me. But a couple take away points: running these bit coin centers that do "mining" electronically consumes huge amounts of electricity, and in some smaller towns, is creating power shortages which raise the rates for citizens. The carbon footprint is the same as the Czech Republic. For countries without the banking safeguards we have, bitcoin might actually be a safer place to stash your money. It's a brave new world, again.
Eating okay so far today. Yesterday I had chips and dip with my son, but I didn't go totally crazy. I brought home half a southwest chicken salad, so I'll have that for lunch tomorrow. One less thing to get ready.
I finished Anne with an E yesterday. Late to the party, for sure, but it was enjoyable, especially after some of the darker, twisted stuff we've watched.
Diane S, I am a follower of Ozark, but I can't just sit and watch it, it has caught me off guard with its gore too many times. DH watches, and I am in the room, working on something else, and listening. I'm invested in the characters and storyline. That's how I watched Trueblood too, I loved the characters and they had some of the best cynical, satirical lines, but there was so.much.blood.
I watched Ozark for a while but I just found it too dark for me.

Greetings all
Our studio has seasonal pottery sales and today was one. So I had to work at the sales table for a couple of hours. Easy pleasant duty. Interesting people always come in. Today it was two coast guard helicopter pilots who were bringing back a helicopter that had been to the east coast for maintenance. They had a few days to kill before returning and wanted to know if the mugs made at our studio which they have at the base are microwave safe. Yes they are. So they got a studio tour and they were interested in the technology. We asked for a helicopter ride and they said "all you have to do is get a crappy boat and go out and sink it and we will come give you a helicopter ride". LOL. Not a good idea as two fishermen parished last week. Only their submerged boat was found.
Yep change is bittersweet. But Liz you have so many adventures ahead! A pox on bubble butt girl.
DD yeah Ozark is pretty gory. But the characters are so interesting. We only have a few episodes left before season finale so I am wondering who will survive. We started another one called Shining Girl or something like that. Its about a time traveling serial killer. Not sure I can stay with it. Glad your son is rid of the icky girlfriend. What do they say about having to kiss a few toads.....?
CC any decision on your medical treatment? Glad you and your friend had a good visit. I will look up "Duke".
I made chicken last night. DH was not able to eat much of the dense protein. Could it be because he eats popcorn all day? His loss is the dogs gain. He made a costco run today so we are set.
Thats about it. Sunny day and the coast guard, stationed very near us, is out flying around. Cheers.
Diane S
I guess I am a lightweight on shows LOL. Ozark is too dark for me, I don't like science fiction and potentially a show with a serial killer as the star eventually turns me off. Though I do like shows about cops catching serial killers.
