Monday, April 18, 2022 - Tax Day

Hopefully we are all done with the craziness of tax filing. The IRS is supposed to grab my payment out of my account today. Massachusetts owes me a refund which I suspect will take longer to show up.

Another sleepless night (awake until around 4 am). I don't know why except we did watch 3 episodes of Pam in a row and as a result went to bed later than usual. Tonight we will watch the final one, then I want to find the Dateline episodes.

Our Easter dinner turned out well. Mike had never had homemade scalloped potatoes! In contrast I wasn't even aware you could buy them in a box (nor do I ever plan to do so). DD cooked for her boyfriend's family. That's quite an accomplishment for her (she cooks less than I do).

Someone on FB Messenger is sending scam emails under my name. Weird - they don't show on regular FB so I can't figure out how to report them other than having a recipient do it. Scams EVERYWHERE!!!

Today I am going to register to vote here. I have changed a bunch of things to use the Florida address. That and getting a Florida drivers license on Friday are my last things I need to do before we leave so I can claim Florida residency.

Not much else on the docket. Have a safe and healthy Monday!

Argh, I'm sick. Very sore throat and a fever. I took a Covid test which was negative. And it's not the post nasal drip of a cold. Feels like strep which I got a lot as a kid. That swallowing knives feeling is hard to forget. So hopefully a throat culture today. The other possibility with a sore throat is a rare side effect of my thyroid meds. It can happen if you just started them or have been on them for years like me. It causes your white blood cell count to drop and the usual sign is a sore throat and can lead to sepsis. So any sore throats I have to call the doctor and do a blood test. That, a throat swab, napping, and a quick meeting with my termite guy is my day.

I hope you feel better soon. That kind of sore throat is awful.

Boooo on the painful sore throat!!!!! I kind of hope it's strep and not a reaction to your meds.

I hope so too! That's a cascade I don't want to fall down.

The Back is somewhat better. I did not show a dog all weekend. I did get dressed to show yesterday just in case I had to, but I did not have to show. Blitz did okay over all this weekend, though I would have preferred one more best of breed win. Oh well....

I sent the chiropractor a message begging off treatment for the time being. While I believe he is a good chiropractor, I don't think he understands my particular needs. He wants to talk with me, but for now I have cancelled all treatment.

Weight is a pound over red line.

I saw video of me taken over this past weekend. UGH.... Ron and I had talked about eating better beginning this week. Seeing the video certainly provided incentive to pursue that!

GOAT v2.0 is going to be the death of me. I was so done with it yesterday..... It's a lovely vehicle, really it is, but sadly it just seems there is one thing after another to deal with. Right now it's seems to be the alternator. It's not charging the battery up during a drive and then draining it down overnight unless I disconnect the batteries. UGH.... Had to wait for a jump yesterday. So left about 2.5 hours after planned departure.

Taxes have to be sent off today. We have a dog friend staying the week. That's pretty much it from here.

So frustrating to have to deal with issues like that repeatedly with your vehicle.

Might you consider seeing someone other than a chiropractor about your back!

I did a lot of research about a small RV when I had the dogs as a way to get them to and from MI. Your experience seems to be standard across the board no matter the brand or price of the original vehicle. And there is a real shortage of mechanics and techs who can or are willing to work on RVs and all its components... So many people waiting for months on end for repairs they are unable to do themselves. And they often teach themselves to work on them just so they can use the darned things!

I think that's wise to put a hold on the chiropractor. I think you ought to try a physical therapist. Given your love of working out, I think you might like it. They are a nice mix of trainer, masseuse, and sports medicine expert to get you back to living normally.

Oh, sad to hear about your illness CC. The one good thing if it is strep, at least for me, is that it responds to antibiotics quickly. Heal quickly!

Peps, you too, it seems CC and I are on the same page that PT is worth checking out.

Liz, in addition to some of the tax benefits, it seems like there are a lot of Florida resident discounts on activities like state park permits and theme parks etc.

We are also experiencing illness in the house. DH woke up Saturday morning very congested, but he said he felt okay otherwise. By Saturday evening, not so much. He spent all day in bed pretty much, so we cancelled our theater tickets. They were nice enough to give us a credit. He is still super fatigued today, but, so far, has tested negative.

I'm trying the 25 grams of protein per meal. Its a little tricky. Breakfast was chai latte, (7) and 2 containers of chobani (22). Lunch did not make it to that count, so my afternoon snack was a fair life shake (30). We are having quiche for dinner, so in order to hit 25, I'll need to drink a cup of fair life milk before I start eating.

I did just a quick look on the internet and found several articles that said older people need more protein than when they were younger, and also, don't metabolize it the same, so, the total amount per day is important, but it needs to be spread out over meals. I didn't have time to see if all the articles were using the same study as a source.

I'm going to track the protein this week, trying to have 25 grams for 3 meals (one will probably be a shake) I'm so tired of thinking about what I can't eat, it will be a change of pace to just track this protein amount, and let the other macros be for awhile. We'll see what happens.
