Happy Easter to all who celebrate!

Not much to report here. My friend and I are going down to the beach for breakfast and to walk on the bike path.

There is chocolate in the house...

Enjoy that chocolate! Deceased DH loved dark chocolate so I would have had a bunny for him. I like milk chocolate but don't crave it nor does Mike so there are no bunnies in the house here.

We went to our usual spot for breakfast and it was packed! Luckily we were able to slip into a booth in the bar area which the family groups didn't want to use.

Right now we are sitting on the beach listening to the waves. The beach club is full of family groups too. Mike and I will enjoy our home cooked turkey breast and scalloped potatoes at our usual mealtime later. No need for lunch after an egg breakfast (with a small amount of hash browns and 1 piece of rye toast I admit).

DD asked what sleeve rules we still follow. I drink right up until my meal now but mostly do wait at least 30 minutes afterwards until I drink again. I say mostly because if I am having wine with dinner, I do have it WITH. Wine actually seems to help me avoid the dumping I often have about 1/2 hour after a meal these days. I don't drink as much liquid as I should but more than I used to and it is mostly non-caloric and not carbonated. Except of course for that previously mentioned wine which has calories, sigh. I have never at any point been good about chewing thoroughly enough or eating slow enough. I might blame my dumping on that but it really seems related to the type of food: I should not be eating simple carbs, but I do. If I eat mostly protein at a meal (2 eggs max or 3-4 oz of meat fits at most), then I definitely wait the 2 hours until eating (and dumping is minimal). But there are the late afternoon snack cravings. I also chew gum - I think that rule might have been to ensure that we didn't swallow it while our tummy was healing?

Not much else to report. Have a safe snd healthy Sunday!

Sunny and cold here again, so no walks or beach. It is a different kind of Easter than in the past, but I am okay with that. I grew up in a family that centered their social life around our church. Easter as a kid meant a big extended family gathering. As an adult, I continued to attend church regularly, and would have never missed an Easter Mass. As a Mom, there was a huge Easter egg hunt at my in laws on Easter Saturday, so much fun! There were special Easter clothes, and baskets, and dinners... It was great then, and this quieter Sunday is great too. My faith remains the same throughout.

After I read the paper, I will make us a very pared down dinner. We were able to buy a "ham steak" from a bone in ham (the only proper kind) at the grocery store deli. I will make a pan of what my family calls killer mashed potatoes (potatoes, top the tator dip, bacon and cheese) and a salad. No candy, no sweets.

Yesterday had a really good workout, and I felt good for some time afterwards. But the Sunday scaries are already starting, (trying to keep them at bay, but they're sneaky!) and I don't want to go to work tomorrow. No extra days off until Memorial Day. Perhaps if the temps really do rise to the 70s I will be energized.

We have more theater tickets tonight. Looking forward to another great show!

Food rules: I stopped drinking Diet Coke, and didn't drink any for years. Now I'm drinking 3 or 4 cans a day!!! What I used to drink was diluted Diet Snapple, no carbonation, but still some chemical flavors and artificial sweetener. Is one worse than the other?

Good question - I mostly drink Crystal Light.

Greetings all

Happy Easter! Though we are doing nothing I feel compelled to go buy a chocolate bunny and bite the head off! If I do it will be a super high quality one. There is actually a local chocolate maker which is very high quality. Oddly I never get it. Hmmm.

Still working on house junk. Major allergy issue yesterday from the dust I stirred up.

Yeah, I still observe a few rules of the VSG. Mainly much smaller portions. I had a potter make up small plates for us and thats what we use. I forget that other people use normal plates. And I don't drink fluid during a meal. Even wine is before or after. I wish I could get more protein in. 25 g of protein at breakfast would be 3.5 eggs! Not gonna happen. Guess I need to get back to some protein shakes. Thought makes me gag.

The puppies were one year old yesterday. I heard from all of the owners. They are all doing so well and are much loved. Such a treat. Our Poppy had a tuna fish cake which she shared with the others.

We watched all of Pam. Then we watched the Dateline program on the real Pam. Amazing what a great acting job Rene Z did in the series. Caught up on Wecrash so we are going to have to find a new sociopath series to watch. Maybe check out Acorn tv.

Not much else. I will make some kind of hamburger and beans taco dish for dinner since thats what we have.

DD glad you had a fun egg hunt. Reminds me of when we were kids and brother put his easter eggs in an unused mail box. Not found for weeks...

I find the fair life protein drinks palatable, and yet I resist drinking them. Why? This week it will be my goal to have one per day.

I agree on Fairlife protein. It does taste pretty good. Yet I too resist. Why? I think because I would rather allocate my tiny tummy space to cheese and crackers. I delude myself by thinking that cheese is protein. ds
