Good morning!

We had a lovely time last night at the jazz club. Excellent food, excellent music. The music fills me up too, and I think of the question, what are you hungry for? This, I'm often hungry for this, an aesthetically beautiful setting, and music. So, all in all, DH said he did indeed have a happy birthday.

Today he is at work. I'll putz around and read the paper, do some laundry, maybe buy a few groceries for the coming week. Two days is not enough time to do all the chores, and relax enough to rejuvenate. So I won't do all the chores :)

Happy, rejuvenating Sunday to all!

That's great that DH had an enjoyable birthday! And thank you for mentioning The Thing About Pam. We watched the first episode the other night. Renee Zellwegger is a wonderful actress.

Yesterday I finished unpacking and we got the garage sufficiently organized so that my car could go into it. What a novelty having 2 cars here. The integration of my stuff into the house is going well. The only remaining work is hanging pictures. At some point I want to replace the coffee table. I also want to paint the barstools and recover the seats. That will be it until we make a final decision in a year as to whether we are staying here or getting another place together.

We had a fantastic late day yesterday listening to music outdoors in the afternoon, then going to one of our favorite family-run local restaurants to eat. The prior night we had drinks at the clubhouse and ate there afterwards. We met some friendly people who invited us to sit with them. The house here is nice so it is our ability to feel at home in this community which will determine whether we stay here or not.

My Port Charlotte home has been listed for a full day now. The broker has had 5 showings. One person loved how it was decorated but wanted the other villa style which is slightly larger and has the laundry inside the unit vs. in the garage. That seems to be the preference of many. I just want to get the place sold quickly. I am very happy with the decision to use a broker. She will be worth every penny of her commission.

Time to go put up some pictures and maybe put together the garage storage cabinet we bought this morning. Mike used to keep the small number of tools he owned in a kitchen closet, but I brought a lot more with me so we needed a place to consolidate them in.

Leftovers for dinner! I am looking forward to not going out other than possibly to the beach club for a while this afternoon.

Have a safe and healthy Sunday.

Laundry in the garage is a more common thing in non-cold climates (same with water heaters). My last house was that way. The plus is, if there is ever a leak (or deluge from a broken hose), it won't hurt anything. I can't imagine letting that be a dealbreaker for such a lovely home!

I forgot to mention that in the midst of a good day yesterday there were some distressing moments which once resolved were probably why the late afternoon and evening were so enjoyable.

I check my bank account daily after the fraud that occurred about a year ago. Guess what? It happened again! So now I have to go through the same process as last year to close the account and change my account numbers everywhere. What a pain! The process is complicated by the fact that my bank is in Massachusetts so everything has to be done with electronic signatures. The bank said it likely was from someone lifting the numbers from a check I wrote. I have only written 2 in the last 4 months. One was to a company I have worked with before and the other to a new company who cleaned my gutters. They wouldn't take credit cards. And the check was cashed the day before this occurred. Coincidence?

The other was that DD who has epilepsy had a seizure yesterday. She had run out of her medication so hadn't taken it for a day. She apparently goes on her new Healthplan this week so let her old insurance lapse and she couldn't afford to fill her prescription. Instead of figuring out how to get medication another way (via her doctor or just purchasing a few pills), she thought she could just go without it for a few days. The medication works great for her but stopping it cold-turkey is almost guaranteed to precipitate a seizure. You would think she would know that!!! Anyway, she was able to purchase enough pills to tide her over and was feeling well again after a long sleep.

I live in fear of another bank fraud crisis. The last one I had was so awful! Never thought they would just take the numbers off the check!

I wouldn't have initially been suspicious of a small business not wanting to take the hit on credit card service fees, but now that I hear this story, I think I will be more cautious about checks. The only check I write now is for my hair stylist niece, if I give her a check instead of running my debit card I save her something like 7%!!!

Grown children, still adding to our grey hairs!! Glad she is okay.

I trimmed and trimmed yesterday. I am feeling accomplished and feel my dogs look ready for stiff competition. As long as they are presented well and I show them well, I have done my best.

GOAT v2.0 was finally picked up on Friday evening. After 4+ months in the repair shop, it is nice to have it back. I will take it to the 4 day show later this week. I am not looking forward to putting gas in the tank! Diesel here is over $6.50 a gallon.

My upper back has been quite sore upon waking up. Chiro thinks it is most likely related to the low back episode, now 4 weeks ago. I sure would like it to just be done and over with. But, at least I am walking, showing dogs, and doing most everyday stuff with ease again.

Quite a good session with the nutritionist on Friday. As always, a lot to work on, but enlightening.

Had Chinese for dinner on Friday. Weight up from the sodium, I think. It could possibly be the homemade Snickerdoodles that my client brought yesterday! Of course, not! I'm going for salty garlic chicken and salty mu su chicken!

More trimming on the docket for today and then organizing for my long dog show weekend. Then tomorrow it's back to school. Happily, I am well prepared for school, so I can just walk in tomorrow and teach!

The heatwave has broken! So much cooler today. I took a walk this morning and my friend went on a very early, very long hike I opted out of. I had oatmeal and lots of brown sugar as walnuts and raspberries have now left the approved diet due to the confluence of the thyroid and colonoscopy restrictions. Thyroid testing starts tomorrow.

I have started in on clearing out my craft room. My friend made a slightly judgy sounding comment about how much stuff I have. I played along, but I so don't need judgment on top of how I already feel about having too much stuff! Sigh. Living alone is so much easier. Still enjoying having her here for the most part though.

I think that's all I have to report. Take care all!

Good Morning All

Monday already here again but I am feeling refreshed after a decadent weekend. Saturday I did some cooking for my neighbour who has just had her hip replaced. Snuck n a cheeky 45 min nap as I hit the wall. DH and I went to see a movie then had dinner out at a Bavarian Restuarant. Sunday we met up with my Goddaughter, her partner and beautiful girls for breakfast. It was so nice. I hadnt seen her in over 2 years. From there we went to spend the day at the Hot Springs. It was bliss - over 50 pools ranging in temperature. It was exactly what we both needed after ridiculously hectic work schedules. We finally left around 5.30pm and stopped at a pub for tea on the way home. I will post some photos in TT.

Short week this week - and I have dinner already prepared so I think I will make some banana cakes for Easter and pop in the freezer. I also need to get both of my wedding dresses ready for my son to drop into a place that makes them into clothing and liners for stillborn babies. I am pleased they will be used to help make those tiny little bubbas last journey a little more comfortable.

I hope you all have a wonderful afternoon/evening

Love to you all

What a sweet idea with the wedding dresses. Sweet and heartbreaking.
