Spring Equinox: Sunday March 20, 2022

If I were up north I would be doing the happy dance over the first day of spring. But it is so sultry here it somehow loses impact.

But with time marching on we are already thinking about plans for going home and summer. We need to be home for mi-May for Mike's granddaughter's first communion so we will probably leave around May 9. We are thinking of stopping in Nashville for a couple of days on the way home as neither of us has been there. To my surprise there are many decent hotels that are pet friendly. We want to book a 4-5 day trip to Seattle in July to see my brother and his son's family but boy are the flights expensive! Of course we have the wedding celebration party in August, then might go to Bar Harbor for Mike's birthday in early September. Lots to think about!

For today we are going on a day sail on a schooner in Key West. Not sure what dinner will be but I suspect it will be going out somewhere.

Have a safe and healthy Sunday!

Neck still sore! I've been putting my icy hot patches on there. Feels good, smells terrible that close to your nose. So a marked decrease in my mojo when head turning isn't happening.

Today my friend is bringing over a bunch of leftover succulents to plant up the pot on my porch. She's a florist and really good with succulents.

I also have a lady coming to test out my elliptical. I don't have high hopes she'll take it. I'm giving it away, but she first wanted to make sure it didn't hurt her shins like other ellipticals (don't they all work the same?). Then I warned her it's enormous, 7ft long and 250 pounds (commercial model my dad bought me years ago in hopes I would become athletic) and she'd needs to arrange moving it. She said her son would help her. Unless her son is the Incredible Hulk, he and an old lady aren't going to be able to move it. The reason it's in the garage is the movers balked at trying to get it in the house.

Anywho, that's all that's going on here. Oh, I got on the scale again and it was worse than yesterday. I need to get my head on straight.

Sorry about the unfriendly scale :( I cannot get my weight to budge, unless it is upward. I'm taking solace in finally getting some exercise. Take care of yourself and your sore muscles.

I am at the same scale reading with you and DD. Yes, the head is more important than the stomach at this point.

All of your plans sound wonderful! We're finding airfares to be very high too. High demand and increased fuel costs I suppose. Our tentative plans for the summer are to drive to the east coast and stay a few weeks. We also have a companion ticket we need to use which will take the sting out of the price if we fly anywhere this summer.

Diane S I just love your musings, and your in the moment observations.

CC, even better than looking at taxes is doing a virtual tour of a neighbor's house when it gets put on real estate listings sites :)

Gloriously sunny and warm (for us, its 60degrees!) on this first day of spring. We are having an early dinner at a New Orleans themed supper club that is getting great reviews, and then heading to the theater for Hadestown.

Yesterday I cleaned out the utensil caddys (very small kitchen so I have more than one). I got rid of some duplicates. Small task, but something that has a big impact on daily tasks. Then I cleaned out "my shelf" in the hallway closet. We don't have a mud room, but we each have a big deep shelf to use as a drop zone. Found two pairs of gloves, my bird identification book and some craft supplies. Finally, sorted my craft drawers in my office, and reorganized the gift wrap drawer. None of these tasks really impact how the house looks in terms of clutter, but they do impact how I live. So babysteps towards using the space I have in a better way.

Time for some laundry, early dinner will be upon me before I know it.

You found some cleaning mojo!! Great job! It's the little stuff that gets touched everyday where I stop seeing the things about them that make them less user friendly that are most satisfying to clean out. And often they aren't the biggest jobs, but the ones that impact us most positively!

My florist friend loves a good bargain, so after she planted my pot, she perused my to be donated piles and left with a carload of stuff!! After the carload of stuff I took to my other friend yesterday, my piles are vastly diminished!

Nice! I have probably mentioned the free yard sale I had when deceased DH (wow, first time clarifying which DH) and I sold our main house. EVERYTHING was gone in 2.5 hours. And many people were thrilled. I enjoyed it other than having to set rules like not allowing the declaration of ownership if the person couldn't transport it right away.

Oh my gosh, I would LOVE to do that! But my HOA is militaristic in their rules. No garage sales of any kind (they even go so far as to regulate your home for sale signs. All are uniform in design, color, font, size etc. no matter the real estate agency. There is a 4 page document describing just real estate signage rules).

LOL CC, my favorite X Files episode is when this monster is killing people in a tidy subdivision and Skully and Mulder figure out its killing everyone who violates an HOA rule!! ds

My Florida place doesn't allow them either but I did do a free "giveaway" by advertising on their website and showing pictures (first come, first serve). Not quite so satisfying but everything did get taken. And I have done a lot of donating to Habitat for Humanity in Florida.
