It's Friday already. It is so muggy here that we are keeping the AC on during the day for once. It never really cooled off last night and the temperature started out near 80 already. Almost like Aruba!
We had a good day with the SILs yesterday. We went out to lunch, to the beach, out to dinner, then stayed up talking again until after midnight. I will need to rest up over the next few days.
We FaceTimed with DS for his birthday yesterday evening which was really nice. He does seem to be coming around to accepting the idea that I am going to be married. All is definitely in motion around that though we do need to finalize whether we are doing our own vows and if so get them printed somewhere.
We are going to Key West mid-afternoon today for a late lunch/early dinner with the SILs before they leave on the ferry to go back to the mainland of Florida. It has been a good visit!
Have a safe and healthy Friday!

So dry here! 5% humidity. It's 66* with a dew point of -7*. I woke up to my lip splitting open when I moved my face. Good times.
I've now walked 4 days in a row. Not much, but I'm proud to have gotten a streak going. Today is my hair appointment. And I will walk. House project-wise, I have a lot of wainscoting in my house and some of it has lifted a bit. So I am putting finishing nails in it to tack it back down. A 4 minute project I've had on my list for 4 years. Story of my life!
That's all I've got today. In case you were worried, I am restocked with diet coke. The line for Costco gas was insanely hard to navigate around! Hundreds waiting. Premium gas near my house is now $6.69. More than $1 less at Costco.
Well, we are not quite as dry as CC. Humidity is 17% here and dew point is 20 degrees. My legs are chalky and so I slathered them with lotion today! My finger tips are a cracked mess.
Yesterday was a good day for me. I decided that I need a little more self regulation. So, while at Costco I found some protein based, easy peasy meals for breakfast and lunch. Not sure how I will like the Shredded Chicken Cauliflower Rice Bowl, but I'm a gonna give it a try! .... Well, I am eating the Chicken Cauliflower Bowl and I LIKE IT! It's not even the slightest bit gag worthy. Quite tasty and the cauliflower "rice", while not at all rice like, is unoffensive and adds some interesting texture to the di**** is a Mexican inspired dish and the spices are really very good. Don Lee Farms is the brand. I can heartily recommend it.
Ron is not feeling well - again. Not sure what is going on with him. I think more than anything he needs to get a grip on the hours he keeps.
My dad failed two written driving exams yesterday and is really upset. He feels the system is out to get him and doesn't understand why 50+ years of ticket and accident free driving don't count for anything. DMV would not tell him the questions he missed, so he doesn't know what to study. He also doesn't understand why his short term memory issues should impact his ability to drive. I do my best to explain without upsetting him and making it look like I'm on his side. He does not yet understand the full scope of his dementia and how it affects him. Last night I had to go help him unplug his carbon monoxide sensor. It is faulty and has ripped through three 9 volt batteries in a week. He can't quite figure out which sensor is beeping and what to do with it. I wish he could make the connection to that and his driving, but he does not seem able to do that yet. It's breaking my heart. My brother is less compassionate. I think because he is the primary care giver at this point.
Dog stuff on the calendar for this weekend, naturally.
I am 100% NOT looking forward to setting the clocks ahead on Saturday night. Nope.... I resent losing that hour more and more each year (but I do like the later evenings...)
Yeah, when DH had to stop driving the woman who tested him was very kind in explaining that he had lost the capacity to evaluate and make several decisions at the same time which is critical to driving (keep my speed appropriate, notice the stop sign, catch the child running toward the street out of the corner of your eye, brake because the car ahead has just come to a full stop, etc.)

It is so hard to navigate aging and the losses that come with it, when people have lived a very independent life. It does break your heart. I was helping my Mom with some toileting because her back was spasming, and she began to cry and say, I don't want you to see me like this. It's hard to know what words of comfort to offer at such times. And driving, it so closely equates with independence. So tough for your Dad.
CC, getting back to walking is not a small thing. Awesome!
Liz, I've looked at the weather reports in Florida, looks like its trending a bit warmer than normal. What time of day is your wedding ceremony?
Going to go work out in about 30 minutes with DH. DD arrives around midnight (!). Maybe a little nap in between.
Friday. Thank heavens!!!!
Very warm! We will be starting at 5:45 pm.

Greetings all
Just got home from gallery duty and I am cooking rice and hamburger for the old dog. DH is out - probably making an ice cream bar run.
I got to see one of the puppies - Batgirl who lived in Mexico for awhile but is now back here. Cute but a feisty one! I am glad I have Poppy the chill girl.
Peps thanks for the mention of the costco dinner. Sounds good. I need to clean out the freezer. No telling what is down there. Cauliflower mushed up enough can pass for anything. Sorry you are dealing with your Dad's driving issues. I am grateful my mom knew when to quit. Aging is no fun (she said from experience).
CC I hear you on the odd jobs. Easy to put it off. I sit here and look at the same junk stacked up on my desk for months. Maybe tomorrow.
Oops, a blob of my tuna salad just hit the floor. Poppy to the rescue.
Not much excitement at the gallery except a young woman came in and was starting to take pictures of some art. I asked her not to as I know this one artist hates it. She tried it again right in front of me. Very charming and made me feel like I was being conned. Left and came back, holding stuff up to the window where she thought I could not see her, not understanding why an original drawing costs more than a reporduction, bla bla. Guess I am just a sceptic and think excessively friendly people are up to no good.
Liz glad your DH is coming around. Wishing you great wedding weather and karma.
Hot and sour soup from the deli tonight. That is, if I can get the carton open!
Cheers Diane S
