The chicken tacos came out great, but I could only eat 1/2 of one. VSG is definitely working at mealtime! We have leftovers for another night (probably after we eat out the next 3 days).

We are going to Marathon Key today to another beach, then to dinner at Sunset Grill next to 7 Mile Bridge. Tomorrow we pick up the SILs in Key West for a 2 day visit. They are taking the ferry from Fort Myers. Two years ago (pre-COVID), I had arranged for us to stay in Key West for 2 nights and we were going to take the ferry. Needless to say, the visit got cancelled and I ended up with a credit for the ferry which they are using for this trip. We were going because I had never been to the Florida Keys (they have). And here I am for a month!

It is very hot and humid here now so I have to wash my hair daily vs. every other day. I hope it doesn't get too light or dry. Time to finish coffee and go for a sweaty walk, LOL.

Have a safe and healthy Tuesday!

Ha! I could probably eat 3! We were marveling at lunch how little many of you eat and how many meals you can get out of one restaurant meal as we devoured our steak sandwiches and fries....

LOL! Yes, I should have been more clear. Neither CC nor I ever get 3 meals out of a regular sized dinner. Sometimes we get two, but never 3! There is a Mexican place we go to where I order a quesadilla. I can generally only eat 1/2 of that. But at most places I can eat an entire burger and a few fries, if I am truly hungry. If not overly hungry a half will sometimes do. Again, I stress sometimes.

The curse of a long torso and a corresponding long stomach. Even in my early days just out of surgery I could eat a 1/4 cup without discomfort. Doc even commented on the length of my remaining sleeve.

Yesterday's whirlwind of work, vet visits, grooming and dinner making left me in a very good mood! I guess there is part of me that loves being productive and a little too busy.

I also took note yesterday how much I love to "treat" myself throughout the day. I eat an awful lot of empty calories throughout the day. I think I will log just the crap food I eat and see how much those calories add up to on an average day. I will have to figure out some substitutions for the crap food treats that truly work, if I want to make some progress on losing more weight. Hmmm.... I wonder still how much I REALLY want to lose weight. At this point, I have some very small physical wants that weight loss would allow me achieve. They are functional goals, certainly not vanity goals - tying shoes and self hygiene.

Dinah is getting all her health checks for pre breeding today. Way more expensive at the reproductive vet hospital than with the traveling Breeder Veterinary service I usually use, but gotta do what you gotta do! Timing sometimes is everything!

Ah, to only have room for half a taco!!

I've walked two days in a row! Makes me laugh to celebrate that, but considering how sedentary I've let myself get the last several months, it's worth celebrating. And I have plans to walk with a friend tomorrow to make it three days.

The sun is so strong here when it's really clear and dry. I put on sunscreen this morning, but with using retinol, I should have had a hat on. I think I fried my face. It stings.

I'm watching a British show called Murder in Provence, which I am having trouble watching because while everyone is supposed to be French with French names in France, they are all English actors with English accents! One is even an American actress affecting an English accent to play a French person. What? It reminds me of the cliched criticism of American movies/tv shows who hire English actors with English accents to portray any "foreign person from Europea" and call it a day. It's lazy.

But I did finish All Creatures Great and Small on PBS. Appropriate use of accents and it was lovely.

I think that's it for me. Off to procrastinate getting my tax stuff together...

My Dad was a large animal vet in the 70s and 80s. All Creatures Great and Small has some relatable moments for our family. I read all of James Harriot's books back in the day. My parents even met him once at a Veterinary Convention (he was a keynote speaker, my parents ended up sharing an elevator with him, and said he was very gracious) My Dad used to laugh, everyone thinks its such romantic work. It doesn't feel so magical when you're trying to pull a calf in the middle of a winter night in an unheated barn while a poopy tail keeps swatting you. :) He always had good stories at dinner!

Proctoring the ACT was as tortuous as I anticipated. The kids were awesome, but having to sit for hours, without books, phones etc watching them, OMG, TEDIOUS, and also stressful because of all of their nit picky rules. The worst sort of combination. But I survived, and will admit there was booze and carbs at dinner out in a nice Italian restaurant. I feel better, and regret nothing.

Back to lower carb and working out tomorrow. :)
