Windy, windy, windy! When it hits at a certain angle the gutter on the back of the house sounds like a very large angry woodpecker which confused me for a while because there has been one pecking at another part of the house in the mornings LOL.
This place is definitely a step up in terms of amenities including appliances most of which are almost brand new. I am using the washer/dryer for the first time and they are very complex front loading ones compared to my usual. Though I have a relatively new stacked unit on Cape Cod, it only has a few cycle options and the ones in Florida are probably 25 years old with the same limited options.
Taking walks without driving to another area first is a bit limited on this key. You can't really walk from one key to another feeling safe as there are no sidewalks on the bridges. This key and most are bisected by Route 1 so you can't cross without taking your life in your hands. So we need to stay on our side of our key. That limits us to a walk along one side of route 1 to to the bridge. Or wandering through the neighborhoods where the streets are defined by the canals:
Off to get more coffee. Have a safe and healthy Saturday!

Ah, walking outdoors! I can see where it is challenging though, it almost looks like a suburban neighborhood.
Liz, my washer and dryer are 35 years old! I should be doing a Whirlpool commercial. They are very basic top load with dials. As long as they get the job done, we figure, why replace them. Since we've never had updated ones, I guess we don't know if we're missing out.
No walking outdoors here, or probably even driving. There is an ice storm warning. It rained during the night, and the rest of the forecast for today is icy rain, sleet, rain, and later snow. I was going to go to Planet Fitness, but may have to do a YouTube video here at home.
If you're going out and about today, whatever your weather, stay safe and have an awesome day.
Older washers and dryers work SO MUCH better IMO. And they last longer. The estimated life of one purchased now is 10-15 years (if you are lucky).

Greetings all
Not much to report since I have done little except enjoy my new shower. Not sure I can ever step into a tub again!
Once my hair is dried I plan to go to the one gallery to take some stuff and check mail and do banking. DH is off to Target to return some items but he is taking a very long time which makes me nervous about what he might bring home! First world problems indeed.
Yeah Liz, I hate new appliances like my air fryer which has been used exsactly once. Too much digitry that I cant figure out. Our new toaster oven has all these pre programs and I cant figure out how to turn it off. DH did so by pulling the plug. I love our 20 year old maytag washer and dryer. New appliances suck.
What a wonderful pic of CC and Peps including the portrait in the background. Hope to hear about your visit. And indeed you must have color coordinated.
Hmm Liz it does appear that walk is a challenge. Stay off the highway. I had no idea the keys were a windy place but it makes sense. Enjoy these days.
CC I hope you get to watch peps show his dog or at least see the dog. Awesome creatures they are.
Crap removal needed here. Maybe later.
Tuna salad is my new favorite thing.

The older washer and dryer in my Florida place wash and dry beautifully. No wrinkles and in a decent amount of time. The people I bought the place from bought them used in 2000. The ones here washed okay but even though the dryer is huge they took a long time and the tee-shirts were wrinkly. I do NOT iron! The ones at Mike's Florida place are Amana bought a few years ago by his property manager when the old washer conked out for the tenants. Real pieces of cr_p IMO. LONG, noisy cycles and also wrinkly at the end.

Still on a happy cloud from my Peps lunch yesterday! DianeS, no dog show viewing for me this weekend. Peps was judging. But I got to see a parade of show dogs at the hotel!
Today I'm making dinner for a friend and her family. She had knee replacement surgery this week and her husband does not cook. I'm making chicken and wild rice soup from a Cooking Light recipe. I doubled it, because it's really good and I wanted some too!
Do you know how hard it was to find wild rice??? After trying several grocery stores, I finally found it at Whole Foods for $7(!). The downside is the one I went to has the worst parking lot in the history of parking lots (what was I thinking! Seriously, many a newspaper article has been written about how bad it is. The designers should be horse whipped). It's made even worse by it sharing space with a Costco gas station, where there were easily 300 cars waiting in line to buy gas blocking all the exit roads (our gas is nearing $6 for premium). It took me 30 minutes to get out of the lot. What a mess! But, I will have yummy soup for dinner!
I have a 26 year old Kenmore front loader (from when they were considered newfangled in the 90s even though they existed before). Knock on wood, it does a great job and has never needed a repair. Nor has the dryer. It doesn't use much water which is nice here where water is at a premium. I've been told by an appliance repair guy not to get rid of it if I can help it! The new ones are just not repairable and they aren't build to last. Plus they use even less water now and some complain they no longer clean as well. It's like low flow toilets. At some point, it's just not enough water to do the job right...
Apt comparison!
