Hello tribe ! TT will remain significant in my life as I grow my beach tribe ! So, I did some thinking, reading and journaling on the difference between self esteem (how you feel about yourself) and self compassion (how you actually treat yourself) and identified a real disconnect !! I?m going to be doing some work around this. I am seeing that I have developed compensation skills to feel better about myself, but treating myself well (gentle, nurturing, accepting) doesn?t come as easily. Back to the ?worthy? theme?the root of it all for me !

There was something wrong with my bedroom furniture, so it wasn?t delivered. Grateful to have my bed and a huge closet ! I am having therapy then a Reiki attunement and intuitive reading Wednesday and haircut and massage Friday. I am focusing at the difference between scheduling self care and sincere awareness that I AM WORTHY of the investment of time and money and being fully present with the experiences to feed my spirit and soul.

Some deep thoughts here Ocean Diane I can see where a disconnect between self-esteem and self-compassion can happen but never really thought about it. Important to evaluate!

We arrived at my place in Florida and slept well. My 16 month grand-nephew (and his parents) are visiting and he is just awesome. He already has asked me to pick him up. Thank goodness I still have that left hip for a toddler to sit on!

I got brave and weighed. I might have lost a pound or two but definitely didn't gain, thank goodness! More or less what I thought but it was good to get confirmation.

Also - wedding dress and shoes are chosen and we got our marriage license this morning. 16 days to the wedding.

Have a safe and healthy Monday!

Congratulations on maintaining your weight amidst all of the traveling and numerous, numerous opportunities to overeat!!! Very impressive.

My brother's son has 2 little boys. Being an Aunt is wonderful, being a great Aunt is wonderful too! Enjoy that little boy.

I'd rather be maintaining at 20 pounds lower, but I am relieved! The little guy is just a joy.

Weight is below the red line. Thank goodness!

My self esteem is actually quite low, as I mentioned on Friday. Yet, as my self care improves, I do think my self esteem improves, too, because feeling deserving of self care enhances feelings of self worth, which boosts self esteem, albeit only in very small ways.

New low at school - I have been instructed to "teach to the test".

I am trying to not let the invasion and destruction of Ukraine get to me. But it might as well be 1939 and Hitler invading Poland. I think we need to be very worried about what lies ahead. The insanity of a leader positioning nuclear arms against Ukraine supporters is unquestionable. This will not remain a European conflict.

My back is better. I love my dogs. I have money in the bank and a roof over my head and food on the table. Doesn't get much better than that when you compare what's happening in the rest of the world.

The world scene is very concerning. I've shed a few tears watching the news. The courage of the Ukraine is both beautiful and agonizing to witness. All this suffering because one man decided he'd do what he wanted.

On a lighter note, I just heard that California is ending school mask mandates next week. Will your district follow?

Yes, my district will stop requiring students wear masks beginning Monday, March 14. However, there is no direction yet for faculty and staff members. Our Supe is hoping to be able to shed some light on our mask requirements by Thursday afternoon. Fingers crossed.

I hate "teach to the test". My younger 2 went to parochial school partially because of that directive in our public school. The science teacher for my children took them to the river once a week with a different lesson about fish, the damage of runoff from streets, how the river created electricity at the power plant, etc. The public school teacher wouldn't have the time or permission to do anything remotely similar. And the good teachers were so frustrated.
