8 more days here in the south west. We leave for the Grand Canyon tomorrow. I have to admit that I am really looking forward to going back to Florida and ultimately to our actual home in April. Lots to do but being back in a more familiar environment will be good. I'm not sure I could be a snowbird in Arizona though there are a lot of them in this condo complex. Many are from Western Canada and a lot from Wisconsin. I guess the beach isn't a big thing for them.
We had some excitement here yesterday. The building 2 over from us caught fire. There were 4-5 fire trucks and several ambulances though I don't think there were any injuries. But there was a lot of smoke and it took them quite a while to quell the fire. The building is clearly empty now so I wonder where the occupants are going to go. Thank goodness it wasn't our building!
Today Mike is meeting another former co-worker for lunch. I am going to poke around shops in Old Town Scottsdale while he does and pick up my wedding band (it is being sized). At some point we need to get Justice out for a decent walk. Not sure what we will do for dinner as the cupboard is very bare.
Have a safe and healthy Saturday!

A fire!! Well that's rather unexpected!!!
We are happily into our routine for the few days we have here in the sun. We went to a farmers market in the late morning, and then lounged by the pool, reading and napping. Its always a bit of a dance to get some color without burning ourselves. When DH asks if I put sunscreen on yet, I tell him I'm busy making Vitamin D to fight osteoporosis. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
Tonight we are going to a small, but delectable Mediterranean restaurant. In my opinion, the best restaurants are back over the causeway in the actual city of St. Petersburg. But Sola Bistro and Wine Bar is a delicious option here at the beach. For something completely different, there is the Drunken Clam, a shack that sells $5 Margaritas that DH also likes. :)
Sunset is coming, I need to pour a ****tail and move to the deck!!!
Greetings all
A chilly day here and no sun. I envy you who are in the sunny places even though I would ***** about the heat. Its been a sleepy day of doing dog toenails and going through the box of stuff that arrived from my SIL of our family photos and such. Kind of an odd bunch of things. Quite a few of these are pictures of our Dad's cousin and their kids. I have no idea where they are but would send them off if I could find them. Also found more stuff on my dad's first wife and divorce. As I suspected, she was chasing around with other men while he was serving in the war. So enough of that.
Yikes fire Liz. Not good. Stay safe. Fire is no joke. I went to school with a guy whose brother perished in the MGM grand fire in Las Vegas. Looking forward to your tales of the Grand Canyon.
DD glad you are in a warm fun place. I hear you on the sunburn. Its hard to gauge how much sun you are getting until its too late and you are toast. Don't overdo it on the first day!!
A year or two ago someone gave me some English walnut halves that came from someone's backyard tree. They were so delicious - so much better than the grocery store ones that are practically embalmed. Anyway the health food store had some fresh organic ones and they are so good. A real treat for this old chick.
Thats about it. Mega chicken enchilladas tonight.

I'm waiting on an electrician to give me an appointment as last night I discovered none of the plugs in my room work. I found the breaker labeled "master bedroom plugs" but it wasn't tripped. So I switched it all the way off and back on, but it didn't fix it. Here endeth the extent of my electrical knowledge.
I walked with my friend today and while it was only 72, it was HOT. The sun seemed so strong! I'm sunburned. But a few minutes in my house and I was freezing. Welcome to Spring in CA.
I had a nice talk with my dad. He seems really happy. I'm so glad!
Other than that, I filled my pill tray (such an old person thing to do!) and had lunch.
At least less stressful than the rest of the week was.
Good wishes to all!
Hey pill boxes are great. I only take three but if it was any more help is needed. I need. to get my 3 pills out at the same time and lay them in a row because upi can't take them rapidly. If not I forget which I took. Mind you this is 3 pills - not too hardcore
not sure where I got off on this but this is my habit.if I need more drugs may use the pharmacy plan of packing up pills for use at given hours, duh, so old people
cheers ds
