Sorry about the tight pants, CC. Mine would be too if I wasn't wearing the larger size ones I bought in 2019. Time to buckle down!
Yesterday was a quiet day. We had lunch at a Mexican place where I had a burrito in a bowl (no tortilla), then I finished it for dinner. We took a ride near where my BIL and SIL bought a second home last spring - we couldn't actually see the house because they are at their other home and there is a LOT of security for their development. A beautiful view of the mountains but honestly I don't think I would want to live here as a second home. I get the appeal after all the rain they have in their primary place in Portland, but the arid conditions are just too dramatically different for me. Really beautiful to visit and hike in, but not live in (for me). Last night we watched the Olympics and cuddled with Justice who was a little under the weather digestive wise.
Justice is recovered this morning. We are off to breakfast (Mike loves breakfast out on Sunday), then will take a scenic drive later today.
Have a safe and healthy Sunday!

I'm with Mike, I love breakfast out on the weekend too. I've never been to the Southwest and I do want to go, but the places that my heart loves are tropical. (Except Ireland, I was absolutely besotted, but it is humid there). During the winter, it is so arid in Minnesota. We like to joke its a dry cold. When we arrive in Florida, and finally get the rental car, I roll down the window and take a deep breath of the humid air, I just love that smell of damp soil. I think I could live happily in Florida year round, except things do get crazy there, and that makes me reluctant to sink a big chunk of money into real estate. Florida Man is a real concept, and then there's the hurricanes, and critters. I think keeping your main residence elsewhere like you do Liz, is sensible. I don't know if we will be able to afford two homes though, probably not. We'll rent though :)
I don't know what to think about the movie Licorice Pizza. It was hysterical in some ways, but what are we supposed to do with the fact that the protagonists who look to be falling in love are a 15 year old boy, and a 25 year old woman???!!! It's distressing and disturbing. If it are reversed, people would be horrified. If you like movies with dark, ironic humor, it's great, but fair warning, it can be unsettling.
We went to Cheesecake factory for dinner, mostly because it was the only thing nearby open late. I ordered hamburger sliders, 4 equaled 800 calories. I ate 1, the other 3 are in my fridge now. It's handy having such a precise calorie count for restaurant food.
Not much else going on here, more of the same from yesterday, and then back at it Monday morning.

Headed to 81 degrees today. It's funny to hear the thoughts on arid vs. humid climates and where we think we could each happily live. I guess living in an irrigated desert my whole life, AZ doesn't seem all that much different or difficult, though it's missing sea breezes. What struck me is how green the natural landscape was there versus the CA desert. I think I could live there.
Today I think I'm going to work on scrubbing my downstairs grout in the walking paths. Exciting stuff! I got an electric scrubber that will hopefully make it less onerous. We'll see.
Haven't heard from the dog people. Hope you all have a great days!
My niece moved to Arizona for a job, got married, and most likely will never move back to Minnesota. It's dry here in the winter, and humid in the summer. When her Arizona husbands visits in July, he changes his shirt multiple times a day, because he's just not used to his sweat not evaporating quickly. After being her for Christmas too, I don't think we'll ever be able to convince either of them they should move back "home". I get why people don't like humidity. I don't know why I love a humid, 90 degree day, maybe because it's the perfect day for a swim :) But, that being said, I bet Arizona is beautiful. I would love to spend some time there. I've been to Salt Lake City in the summer, which is semi arid, and I enjoyed it a lot. I think I would miss lakes though, if I were inland, in a drier place.
Greetings all
Yet another lovely sunny crisp day here. Its always kind of on the humid side (fog=redwoods) and I do enjoy it. I don't do well in really dry climates. Last time I was in Reno I got nose bleeds. And super winters require super heating which means dry skin. Everyone in Omaha had a humidifier connected to the furnace. Out here that would be a complete joke. Of course, our furnace out here is much smaller than the Omaha one - it looks like a toy furnace to me. Ditto the freeways - toy exit ramps.
So we took the rocking chair up last night and it is greatly appreciated. Looks adorable in her little flat. She has no tv so DH decided we could offer her our extra one (which I didn't know we had) and she is thrilled at the prospect. So DH must figure out how to get a signal in the tiny town and he is now rummaging through his collection of electronic things for some sort of antennae. It will give him something to do and help out our friend. Its sad to think of her newly widowed, living in a small apartment and no tv. DH nerd to the rescue.
Contractors come back tomorrow and we also take the electric car in at the crack of dawn. Ick.
Speaking go the contractors, they were pounding on the wall last week - the wall shared with our walk in closet. Some suitcases and boxes fell over. Nothing damaged but all that stuff was like a landslide and blocked the door so we could only open the door about 3 inches. I needed some medicine from a drawer in there (tranquilizer to take before dental work) and that was not easy. I told DH I only had two pairs of pants that were not in that closet so he had better figure out some way to get in. He had some huge vicious looking tool - looked like a combination machete and plant hook- that got stuff moved. No clue how or what that tool is actually for.
Anyway we had dinner at a little hole in the wall place that has simple but good food. Brough half my cheeseburger home and just ate it for lunch. I so love restaurant take home food.
We have no****ched any Olympics yet. I am hoping DH will leave and go help the tv-less widow so I can tune in.
Not much here on the food front. So glad the rest of you are tending to it. Maybe I will get inspire too. At least, after the bathroom is done.
Cheers all. Diane S
