Just one more day in Kauai and four more in Hawaii. It's strange how fast time flies on vacation.

The helicopter ride was amazing and we saw so much that we wouldn't have been able to view any other way. I had about 10 minutes of panic in the beginning and was holding onto my seat and the edge of the windshield for dear life but I was able to gain control and enjoy the last 50 minutes. The same thing happened when I was in a helicopter in Alaska so I figured if I could gut it out I would be okay (and I was). Luckily I generally don't have motion sickness these days though I used to suffer from it badly as a child and young adult.

Last night I had a bit of a meltdown with Mike about the marriage thing. Not good, but he seems to be pretending he doesn't understand how I feel about the issue though I think he does. I guess we will see where we are when April rolls around.

Today we are hiking on the northern side of the island. I'm not sure what to wear or bring but I will figure it out. We are supposed to leave within the hour.

Have a safe and healthy Thursday!

Liz, I'm so sorry the marriage issue weighs so heavily on you. Having never been "married" and really not ever considering the prospect, I can't say I really understand, but I do empathize. So, hugs..... It's clearly not an easy road for you and my heart goes out to you.

I don't know what I ate or did the other day, but yesterday my weight was up 2+ pounds. Booooooo..... down a pound today. So just a normal flux up, but I didn't like it as it put me in my RED ZONE.

A teacher colleague wants me to go on a diet with her.... Counting macros. I can count macros without dieting, so I may just do it. Might help me get rid of the few extra pounds I've been carrying.

All the puppies have been placed and families are making arrangements for pick ups. One will leave Saturday and then the remaining pups will all leave the following weekend. Always a bittersweet time for me.

Covid is still running rampant in Room 5! I have 7 kids out - two out of an abundance of caution, but 5 honestly ill! Boooooo for the second time today!

Weather continues to be glorious here - in the mid 50s to upper 50s and sunny, I am strong as heck, I have a roof over my head, food to eat, and puppies to play with. Life is good. Life is good.

I'm always so surprised how fast the time goes from the expecting puppies announcement to them leaving for new homes. I've only been on the "new home" side of the equation. Your justifiable bittersweet emotions are pure elation from the other side.

Yes, I know how happy the puppy families are. It makes it much, much easier to see them go. Plus, my screening process is pretty brutal, so I know the people who get my pups are going to be top notch owners!

A "warm up" here! 27 degrees, snow and blustery winds. My dad and I went out to the Lake MI end of our property and checked out the ice mountains on the big lake. The pics don't do it justice! They're huge. The other pic is the frozen channel in front of our house.

Nothing else going on here. A load of laundry, working on my crocheted blanket while listening to murder podcasts, ran to the store for deli turkey, assorted chores...

We warmed up too! Yesterday morning it was -17 when I pulled into work. Today is in the 20s. Still felt mighty cold when I pumped gas this evening.

I am curious: what is your helicopter story?

Liz, I am sorry that what appeared settled once, the question of marriage, is now feeling unsettled again. Clearly Mike cares deeply for you. It's a lot to sort out. I hope for only good things between you and Mike.

Had dinner with the college roomies. There's such a comfort in being with people who know your whole story. We've known each other since we were 18. And also what a comfort for someone to know your whole story and still see the best in you.

Huzzah for the weekend upon us! Hurry up Friday evening!!
