Hi friends!

How do those of you in cold climates handle the dry skin?! I feel like there's not enough lotion in the world...

We actually saw a bit of blue sky even though it was still snowing. Very pretty.

I had to venture to my little house for something my dad needed and even with Yaktrax on my shoes, still slipped a bit and pulled a muscle in my hip. This is a perilous place to be in winter .

Today I think I'll take the non-can/bottle recycling to the township hall collection bins. Big day! I also got compression socks onto my dad. Those things are a battle. And I don't like being close to or touching other people's feet. So that was an act of sacrificial love...

That's all for my exciting day. Hope you all are doing well and having fun!

Aquaphor, Bag Balm, Vaseline.

Lotion doesn't cut it.

What a good daughter you are! I wouldn't like to have to put those socks on someone else either.

Great news from SIL this morning. She had full scans of her entire body Thursday and the newer therapy is still working! They were afraid that this targeted therapy might have stopped working and the next steps would be either traditional chemo or radiation. So she can go to Florida!!! She and my other SIL are out to lunch right now celebrating after getting the good news this morning from the doctor.

Kayaking and snorkeling yesterday morning was fantastic. And boy am I glad I don't weigh what I used to as I don't think I could have done it. Mike is a big guy and he really struggled getting in and out of the kayak. And he didn't wear flippers when snorkeling because he couldn't bend enough to get them on his feet in the kayak. So he expended a lot more energy when snorkeling and is very sore this morning. But we saw a great variety of fish and swam next to a 100 year old sea turtle! Mike's son stayed a couple of extra days in Maui and was doing the sunrise at Haleakala this morning and BIKING down! I can't even imagine doing that with all the turns and in the cold.

Mike and I are being lazy today and going to the beach. We have a luau tonight.

Have a safe and healthy Friday!

Oh yeah, and as Peps indicates, the thicker the lotion the better. I find hands and heels are the worst, but especially hands because of having to wash them frequently. Keep lotion near the sink and try to really slather on the stuff at night. Working Mans hand cream is really good too.

Greetings all

Just go home from lunch out with friends. I had been craving a good hamburger (not the crappy compressed kind) and got exactly that. Brought half of it home and all of the fries. Fun to visit and catch up. The memorial for our deceased friend is Sunday so planning for that.

Yes the heating in cold climates can wreck your skin. When I used to go skiing I always got this rash on my face. Burning and miserable. I had a prescription cortisone creme which I think comes over the counter. But for hands and such the thicker the goo the better. CC get some little white sleep gloves to wear to bed with thick creme underneath. Yikes stay safe walking.

Man, whenever I eat a big meal (which today was a half cheeseburger) I want to take a big nap. Feels like Christmas dinner. think I will do it. Then its laundry and more laundry. Dogs don't wear clothes but sure cause laundry in the way of numerous throws for the furniture that get mudded and little clean up towels. And today I noticed in the car that the black jacket DH was wearing was covered in dog fur.

Hawaii sounds so grand Liz. I remember some of those places in Maui. Enjoy every bit of it. We went snorkeling at a place called Turtle Town and there were many.

My eating continues to be disordered but I am still amazed at my lack of interest in sweets. Bet that changes Sunday at the memorial where the featured treat is the chocolate chip cookie recipe of the deceased person who was a master.

Hey Peps we are loving Lucifer. Thanks. I think we are nearing the end of season 2.

Ocean Diane the roast chicken and such sounds perfect for an ice storm. Comfort food for cold. Enjoy and stay warm.

Cheers all.

It's weird, but I don't really dry out too much in this cold. I credit my Finnish ancestory, like this is my genetic design, to endure harsh winters. My soul, however, longs for humidity and the beach. How dry is it? Last night's weather report was that the dew point was - 12. What I really hate is all the flipping static electricity.

Cecily, you are an awesome daughter to help with those compression socks. They are a stubborn piece of clothing to work with. Super duper spanx for the calves!

Diane your food sounds like just the thing for an unprecedented cold snap. Stay safe!

I'm excited for the weekend in a way I haven't been for awhile. Tonight we see LaBoheme, tomorrow haircut and then lunch with my Mom and my Aussie sister who is visiting, Sunday lunch with my Controversy Club gals, and then dinner at a friends house, and Aussie sister is coming to spend the night.

Enjoy the histori**** storm, Diane! I hope it doesn't knock out your power. That's the part of an ice storm that is awful - the damage can be severe and the southeast isn't well prepared for such events.

We are having an early spring wind! It is weather I absolutely love, but it is super hard to be a teacher on days like today. Children react to wind on a truly primordial level. Wind unleashes a jittery energy - even if they are inside. It is a bizarre phenomenon.

Pups are all vaxed and chipped and checked! One little girl pup was so excited/nervous/stressed about the vet visit her heart was pounding and beating so fast at first the vet thought she had a mild murmur, but realized her heart was "galloping" meaning adding and extra beat... Once she calmed down her heart returned to normal and she checked out fine. That is a phenomenon in young pups. Kind of like human babies born with mild heart murmurs that go away in a month or two.

Salty food last night for Auntie Kathryn's b'day. Up a pound today. Oh well.... choices beget results.

I am loving my puppies and am a little sad they are going to be going away within two weeks. Will have to choose a home for the pup that still needs a home.
