So what a difficult trip its been since December 22. Yesterday was the first day I thought, oh, I'm feeling pretty good. So I think the flu/pneumonia is finally behind me.
San Diego was not the panacea I had hoped for. Definitely warmer than here, but overcast most of the time. Highlights: seeing so many nieces and nephews, watching DH so happy with his brothers, dancing like a fool, seeing the bride radiating happiness... Anyhow, we joked that we fought a blizzard and a tsunami to attend the wedding. And as I suspected, DD found great comfort from her cousins. After all, they knew her kitty very well, as they were in and out of our house all the time in the growing up years.
DD has cried a river, an ocean, but eventually you run out of tears. Losing a pet is something all of us face when we decide to bring a companion into our lives. I still think its worth it .... That being said, we will probably remain petless, the first time for either of us. We went from our parents homes, always with pets, to our own home with my beautiful Siamese cat, who decided he could be my husband's cat too. It feels strange, but we are hoping to be on the move this summer, so now is not the time.
Deep freeze this week! Even so, we have some things planned, were going to see labour me Friday, I'm finally getting my hair done Saturday, and going out to lunch with some friends on Sunday. Life moves forward.
I thought our 2 dogs before Justice would be our last as DH wasn't as fond of dogs as me and we thought we would travel in retirement. Then came DH"s illness which caused him to become quite fond of pets and we had no real ability to travel. So Justice came into our life and now of course he is permanent family.

You are right DD. And once we have them they are family. So sorry about Whiskers. We so love them and miss them because they are our family

Greetings all
Just back from errands. I probably should not mention this but I am eating the most delicious thing - its bacon gorgonzola potato salad. OMG good. I just have a tiny carton and am eating a spoon or two per day.
And I also got chicken pot pies from the preferred deli. Yay no cooking tonight.
Scrabble was fun yesterday and I even won. Then I went to a store to look at light fixtures for the bathroom remodel which is coming up in two weeks. I originally selected one but changed my mind so now I have to find one. A challenge in this rural area.
Liz glad you took the road to Hana. We met some tourists there years ago that complained there was not much worth seeing in Hana. They did not understand that the drive is the attraction!!! And I bet the crator was great too. Are there still people who get their bikes hauled up that mountain so they can coast all the way down??
Shirley sorry you are in a tough place. We all adore you and wish you the best. Take care of yourself.
Peps many years ago my best childhood friend were leaving the airport as I was visiting for a few days. We stopped at costco for supplies. Got to the checker and we had cookies, cake, candy and all manner of junk food and sweets. The checker said "girl weekend?". It was about $60 worth of junk food. Ron must have been snagged by the carb monster.
DD are you back home? Stay warm. You too CC. ( auto correct wanted to type "worm")
It is sunny and crisp here but I cant seem to get warm. Could be because DH leaves the slider open all the time. One of my scrabble guys wears shorts and a t shirt in the winter and the other one birkenstocks and t shirts. The other woman and I sit there in layers.
Spent some time in the studio today and its humming with activity which feels good. I just hope we don't get covid there. One has to be vaccinated to even come in there but people lie plus there were over 800 cases in our county this past weekend which is huge.
BB mentioned food waste on FB. I agree to just toss it. Either that or pack it on your azz. But california is making some new food waste rule where you have to compost it and the trash will have a third container and grocery stores cant toss slightly aged produce. Its now an advertised thing to not create food waste as it fills up landfills and makes greenhouse gasses. Jeez, what am I supposed to do, be organized and manage every crumb that comes in here? We shall see how this plays out. Its already impossible to recycle here - the places that did it closed and the grocery stores that are supposed to take stuff back just don't do it and probably just pay a fine. Rant Rant rant.
Thats it for now. Take care all. Diane S
