Peps

Hi.... I am back to work. My reception has been varied! LOL! My principal was adamant I return today. The district nurse gave me the okay, but was very clear in her caution that if I don't feel up to it, I should not return to work. I decided that since we have a late start day today and my schedule is the lightest for the week on Wednesdays, I'd come back and give it a try. If it's too much, I will take the rest of the week off.

I drove Liza up to Grass Valley (Sierra Foothills) yesterday so she can start her journey home to Washington State. I did fine on the trip. I had a lot of trouble getting to sleep again last night and then staying asleep was not easy either. I maybe got 5 hours, if that. Hoping I don't fade too much during the day.

Ocean Diane, what a great report from your training session! Liz, enjoy the weather in Oahu. I listened to a report about winter surfing on Lake Superior. Apparently it's a crazy thing Minnesotans do! Somehow, I'm not seeing Diamond D trying that! LOL! CC thinking nothing but good thoughts for your pop!

Back to prep for the day..... Happy hump day everyone.

Thinking of CC' s Dad today. And you CC, sending hugs.

You're right Peps, you will not find me surfing in Lake Superior! I remember the first time I swam in Lake Michigan, I was confused, the water temp was tolerable, the bottom soft and sandy. What is this other great lake, and why isn't it trying to kill me? Never turn your back on Lake Superior. It is beautiful, but also rugged, and harsh.

I can no longer decide how I feel, I've been sick for so long. If my chest X-Ray is good, I think I just need to get on with things and rebuild my strength. I should have the results later today or tomorrow.

Take it easy at work Peps. The kids were probably so happy to see you.

Greetings all

What? Peps? Back to work? How can this be? You are still sick. Don't overdo it. But I nice day to take a road trip to take Liza home.

Thinking of your Dad Cici. Hope all goes well. No fun not being nearby.

I keep forgetting the name of that food company. Root box, box of roots, whatever. I will look it up when I can remember it.

DH is going in to get a heart monitor test in a week or so. Its the same one I have had - they stick it on you and you wear it for two weeks. My biggest issue with it was it was so hard to wash my hair. However, DH has no hair so thats good.

Had the first dental visit for the new crown yesterday. Must say I was in there for a very long time but I am grateful the dentist took all the time needed to get it right. Seems like he did a zillion fits for the temp crown. This is my old hippie dentist with the theme rooms. Yesterday I had the redwood/lumberjack themed room. At least there is stuff to look at. Also an array of animal teeth and wood carvings.

More sunny days here and even not that cold. But they are saying stay off the beaches - sneaker wave warnings.

I am ostriching about food and weight. Today's excuse is I must eat soft food due to dental work. Of course that could be a protein drink or eggs. Not to be.

Ocean Diane so glad you got a good health report. Yay you. And yay for loving being retired and on your own. Such freedom - like skipping school!!!

DD hope you feel stronger soon. boredom is good for you.

Liz enjoy the islands. Turtle bay looks luscious.

Take care all. Sending good vibes to all from my clean house .

CC, sending good vibes for your Dad. I know it is even harder not to be there.

We have had great weather here on Oahu but the sun disappears in the mid afternoon. It is full sun early but by about 2 pm the clouds seem to get stuck on the mountains and hug the shoreline here on the North Shore. Because we had been doing sightseeing early by the time we got to the beach it was cloudy and misty. Today we went at noon and got at least a couple of hours of sun (in addition to the sun on our walk along the ocean in the morning).

I had insomnia again last night with no idea why. I got 2-3 hours of sleep at most. Yuck!

Have a safe snd healthy Wednesday!

Late post! I was busy worrying about my dad and getting my things together for tomorrow's road trip start.

My dad's surgery went well. About 8 hours. They removed his bladder with a sizable tumor in it, his prostate, lymph nodes, and re-routed his ureter all while working around a lot of scar tissue from his previous surgeries. The surgeon said the margins were good and they are still checking the lymph nodes. But this could be the end of the cancer, if it hasn't escaped. He was stage IV (metastatic) at the beginning of all of this. One of the surgeons who met with him yesterday for the first time said he's kind of famous around Mayo urology. So few patients live through his kind of cancer that has metastasized. He's got a long recovery road ahead, but we are hopeful. They may end up being able to go home by Tuesday, so I've sped up my departure to tomorrow. I may end up getting hung up by weather in OK for a day, but better that than an unskilled winter driver trying to learn on the snowy highways of MO and IL! Tomorrow I head to Albuquerque, my longest day of driving (12 hours, but also the most weather stable). Then to Tulsa, Bloomfield IL, and up to MI.

On my return trip I'll meander home checking out places along the way.

Hope you all are doing well, Peps and DD take it easy! No sense setting yourselves back by overdoing!
