2022! It doesn't seem possible!

We had a fantastic night: A great meal (I ate about 1/4 of it LOL), and we stayed up to watch the fireworks at midnight over Boston Harbor. I didn't realize when I booked this that we had perhaps the most optimal view from our balcony. Luckily the fog subsided enough for it to be fully visible. What an experience! We are also staying tonight and will walk around Boston this afternoon.

Have a relaxing New Years Day!

Congratulations on finding a holiday unicorn: a NYE celebration that exceeded expectations.

We had a quiet night. I scrounged around and found what I needed to make parmesan risotto, and came up with a few sides. Pretty good considering I've purchased no groceries since the 22nd of December. DH is a bit sick too, and we wistfully recalled how even on the worst NYE, we ended it with "a bang". Not this year.

Today, I am bathed, dressed and fed. We are trying to decide if it would be okay to go to a movie. Still in the planning stages. If not, I have a book I started, and laundry I washed yesterday to fold and put away.

Luckily, Monday is work, but no students, so I can ease back into it. Surely I'll be better next week?

Enjoy the first weekend of a shiny New Year!

Happy New Year All

Heres to hoping 2022 brings good things. 2021 was not really such a bad year for us but we are retired and can skip many of the hardships of employed people. Gratitude is my theme for this year.

Our friend with Alzheimers died yesterday. A blessing. Her son got to see her and say goodbye and it was peaceful. Hold on to all your loved ones everyone. I am trying to figure out what to do for her husband. Maybe beef barley stew. He is a meat and potatoes kind of guy.

Liz sounds like you had the best new years eve event. Great fun. And you are wise to get legal counsel on the marital stuff. When I was a lawyer and there was a second marriage and adult children, there was always the fear that the new spouse would inherit all money and the kids get left out. So I suggest you make sure that your wills are set up otherwise and the kids know. Lack of information generates suspicion and bad feelings.

I had a lot of really lousy new years eves - like being out in some crappy bar with girlfriends and creepy men yelling that we must be lesbians because we rebuffed them. Or another time I was at the death bed of a complete stranger getting dragged along by others. Still one year I was on the second deck of the Eiffel Tower with a cute French gendarme as my date. These days we watch Anderson Cooper giggle on CNN and go to bed early. THC drops for Tesla as she is so afraid of fireworks.

DD glad you are feeling better. Don't pu**** It can be fun to investigate the dark corners of the pantry to see what can be made. A treasure hunt.

My studio buddy was going to come over to watch football all day but she is not feeling good and took a covid test. No results yet but I appreciate her declining to come over.

We watched a peculiar series called the Landscapers the other night. very odd but kind of intriguing. Looking for new tv series so I can avoid the endless sci fi.

No resolutions for me. Just a failure option. And I did my last shift at the one gallery yesterday. Not bad and some decent sales but I am glad to be out of there for awhile. For not having enough art to sell I managed to do over $500. Yay me.

Thats about it. Hope everyone has a cozy time and bright outlook for this coming year. Diane S

Mike and I are both in agreement that we want to make sure everything is set up equitably and that the kids know we have done so.

Mike has reverted back to not wanting to tell the kids right now but maybe eloping while we are traveling. Though my girls would be okay with that, DS HATES change so I have to forewarn him to give him time. He has finally gotten comfortable with Mike's and my relationship and I don't want to set that back by springing a surprise marriage on him. Nothing is simple...
