10 days until we leave for Hawaii. We are getting nervous after seeing all the flight cancellations over the weekend. Hawaiian Air wasn't one of the airlines but who knows what the next 10 days will bring. Hopefully we will get there one way or another, but we had booked a direct flight to reduce the total traveling time and would hate to give that up.
Time to bring Justice for his annual vet appointment. Luckily he seems mostly recovered from whatever illness was bothering him the last few days. Last night he ate a little bit and he is full of energy this morning.
Have a safe and healthy Monday!

Good news about Justice. It will be reassuring to have a check up to confirm he is in good health. I've watched all the news about flight cancellations with apprehension too. We are going to San Diego on January 14, just for the weekend to attend our niece's wedding. We fly out 6pm on Friday, and are back 11:30pm on Sunday. Not a lot of wiggle room. Flying in January means worrying about weather ldelays, and now this.
It's cold and blowing snow today. I don't have to deal with it though, because I'm not going anywhere. Still coughing and weak. My abdominal muscles are getting a work out though! Especially my upper abdominals hurt when I cough. Nyquil is still my best friend. 2nd Covid quick test was negative. Must just be a bad cold.
Today's plans, more reading, napping, Netflix, and fires in the fireplace. Not what I initially had planned, but there ate worse ways to spend a break.
Inclement weather seems to be widespread. We are on what seems to be day umpteen of gray, cool and rainy weather. It is needed here, so I must refrain from complaining, but you all know how I hate the "dog" mud.
I groomed my BFF's dog yesterday. Took the entire afternoon. Sheesh! I have to work on Blitz today so he's looking good for Palm Springs by January 5th.
Stayed up waaaaay too late watching a stupid Rom Com movie on Netflix. Can't even recommend it - total Hallmark quality script, but a much higher budget. But you know, once you're hooked you gotta watch until the end.
Today is errand day, too. Have to get to the tailor, cleaner, grocery store and post office. Need a smog check, too, but I'll do that later in the week.
Other than a big happy B'day to our friend, not much else to write today!

I woke up to lots of nice birthday texts and messages this morning. I realized I may have bigger feelings about turning 50 than I thought when I went to the Starbucks drive thru for my free bday coffee and burst into tears when the gal wished me a happy birthday. Surprised the heck out of both of us! Oh well. As I tell myself every year, I'm just one day older than I was yesterday.
Tonight one of my friends is taking me out to dinner. So sweet.
The only phone call I've gotten was from MI guy. I didn't answer. And feel good about that decison.
Hope you all are having a good day!
Happy, happy Birthday!

Greetings all
Like Peps I am having another chilly grey northern cal day but cant complain. We had hail yesterday but inland is a boat load of snow. I -80 is closed. I so remember in the midwest when parts of I-80 were closed and its a big deal. Some power outages around here but not us. I am grateful for DH being fixated on electronics to have these big batteries to run the tv and furnace blower on.
DD hope you are feeling better. My brother who has the rare disease keeps a cannister of oxygen. Its not essential but is a comfort when he gets short of breath. Didn't it used to be a thing that you could go to a bar and get hits of oxygen? How bout hits of chicken soup? Anyway please rest up. If I were you I would demand some codeine cough syrup. OTC in Europe. What is wrong with this nation.
Have a fun dinner Cecily! 50's is indeed a great decade. I quit my job and moved to california. Enjoy the day. And good for not answering that one phone call.
Liz I don't blame you for being nervous about traveling. the problem with it is that you have to go through an airport. Remember the days when they used to be nice to you on airplanes? Glad Justice is better. My niece has me giving Tesla some probiotics since she farts like a buffalo!!!
Speaking of little buffaloes, Peps that herd will soon be stampeding around your home. About a year after one litter was gone I found a tiny petrified turd behind some furniture. Should have had it bronzed.
I am cooking food for the dogs. The beef barley soup was so comforting. More tonight. Wishing everyone an evening of warm soup except Cici who will have something more exotic!!
