And that is precisely why I encourage my brother to get around some people during the summer of 2020. It was like pulling teeth, but I think he was better for it. I believe the immune system is like muscle tissue: if it's not used, it atrophies. Did you know that school aged children who have dogs in the home have fewer school absences overall compared to students who have no pets? Truth, I kid you not. My germaphobe friends are sick far more often than I, too. I think there is logic in my thinking....

With me boostered up and with a flu vaccine on board, and exposed to all the flora at school stoking the immune system, I figure at this point it is God's will if I get sick! LOL!

I did not know RSV was an issue currently. It's so common and generally non life threatening. My dad is both CMV and RSV negative, so he is often called on to donate for infants in need of blood or plasma.

Yes! Like asthma is more common in children who grow up in exceptionally clean homes... A little dirt don't hurt!

We got back a little while ago from ice skating. I only lasted 20 minutes LOL. I never thought about how much a firm boot would hurt pressing on bunions, though I should have since I have had to buy soft, flexible shoes for years. It was fun (even if painful) trying!

Ice skating sure sounds fun! I didn't do much ice skating when I was a kid... CA kid.... It's kind of a bucket list thing for me, but I've reached the age where the risk of breaking a bone makes me leery!

I understand your want to tell people about getting married. It's not REAL until it's spoken... But, I do think you and Mike are wise and loving to wait for your DD's possible engagement announcement first. If by January 1st, there is no news from DD, SPILL IT! (Maybe tell DS privately, first????)

Yesterday ended up being a bit of a "slug" day. I did do a lot of busy paperwork clean up, etc... but I never left the house. I barely even went outside. Granted, it never got out of the 40s here yesterday and it was gray and cloudy. Today I woke up to a rushing torrent of a creek and rain. We are in a lull, but more is expected. It's good. We need it. But, as I've said before, I hate the mud!

Yesterday was a decent food day.

I have to help Ron finish cleaning today and then start wrapping. Not a lot to wrap since we are all adults and no kid presents this year, as my brother isn't going to visit his daughter and the grand kids. Daughter and husband are unvaccinated. Too risky for my brother since he is high risk - even with his booster on board.

Fighting off the Christmas blahs... which I get usually right before Christmas for a day or two. I think the tanning bed is in order after my workout tonight. It helps with the blahs.... I feel a little silly being tan year round, but I like being tan, so what the hell.... right?

Happy almost Christmas and Happy belated b'day Shirl!

That was my feeling - to wait until after 1/1, but before we leave for Hawaii. Mike suggested we wait until we are finished traveling but that seems like a long way off.

Greetings All

A post roast is in the slow cooker and it smells so good. But I had no carrots or onions so DH got some after his lunch with the buddies.

Yep Liz, wait for DD but I am with Peps. Let it out after Jan 1. Probably will be no surprise. A small ceremony with a party afterwards sounds lovely. DH and I got married in this lovely old mansion - it was a party with a wedding in the middle of it.

Old dog chip is not doing well. He pooped on the sofa this morning. Luckily it had a washable cover. I hope he holds up through Christmas.

And I am not ready for holiday and have wrapped nothing. But I have a case of fine wine and lots of those wine bottle gift bags. Color me lazy. I will so all this stuff tomorrow.

DD sorry you don't feel well. Glad your test was negative but even if you have just a cold its no fun. Sick at Christmas is no fun.

One of these days I am going to start thinking of food and weight loss again. I have kind of been on sabbatical from it but cant continue down this road. Tossed a lot of stuff from the fridge last night as today is trash day.

Thats about it. Take care all. Diane S
