It is the Eve of Christmas Eve! I believe all buying and wrapping are done. My last stocking stuffers come today.
We are meeting the sisters for dinner tonight since Mike didn't get to truly celebrate Christmas with them. Before that we will probably take Justice for a long walk. And we might try publi**** skating! That should be interesting as I am sure it has been 20 years or so since I was on skates. Growing up I would go at least once a week. Some of my favorite ice skating events were skating through marshy areas around a river at night with my classmates when we were in Junior High. We would skate by moonlight and end the evening with hot chocolate at one of my friends homes near the marsh.
I am having a difficult time not telling anyone here that we have decided to get married. Maybe it doesn't feel real to me until I do? I think Mike would just like to do the marriage alone and have a party later and I am pretty comfortable with that. Hence, there is a possibility that his Elvis Las Vegas idea is not totally in jest. I do have a couple of friends who got married that way.
Much to mull over and mix with the other feelings that come together at Christmas.
Have a safe and healthy Eve of Christmas Eve!

I remember ice skating with great fondness too. We used to pretend we were Peggy Fleming in grade school. I stopped skating after college, maybe because DH wasn't a skater. Instead, we were into cross country skiing.
I think I have a beakthrough Covid case!!!! Just when everything was going so well. I started coughing last night, now I am congested, body aches, chills, and the cough is worse. I would definitely call in sick with whatever is happening. The aches and chills are the worst. I have a rapid test I bought yesterday, because we were going to take tests before we went to my parents house. I'll wait to use the rapid test until this afternoon with DH. I'm kind of woozy, and I don't want to do it wrong, it might be hard to buy another. But even if I test negative I can't be around vulnerable people like my Mom, too big a risk....
So sorry you are ill DD. Not a good time Covid or not. Let us know what the test says...

I had a lovely Christmas lunch with a friend yesterday at a fancy restaurant in Newport Beach. I'm still eating way too much and the scale REALLY shows it. Well past time to rein it in!
Today I have a blood draw and a hair appointment. And we have rain on the way today and tomorrow.
Wishing Shirley a happy birthday!
Happy birthday Shirley!

Better safe than sorry since you have symptoms. My DD bought a bunch of rapid tests to use Christmas morning before we go to SIL's. This is from an article I read this morning in The NY Times based on the use of rapid at-home tests in Britain: "A common question is how accurate these tests really are. The data is now clear ... that these tests are excellent at detecting people who are contagious. However, these tests do not always pick up the very earliest stages of an infection, before people develop symptoms, or the later stages of an infection, when symptoms have passed. But it's important to understand that these very early and very late stages are when people are far less likely to be infectious and able to spread the virus to others."

My friend and I have the same doctor. My friend asked our doctor how he caught the flu given how careful he is these days about germs. The doctor's response was we're all a bunch of hothouse flowers after 2 years of avoiding germs, and particularly susceptible to any kind of germs now.
Also why RSV is so dangerous these days...
