Tuesday, December 21, 2021 - Winter Solstice

It is the shortest day of the year and I can't wait for the days to be longer. It was very cold and windy all day yesterday (the coldest day here so far this season apparently) but today it might reach 45. We are hoping to be able to take Justice for a walk on the beach if it is not too windy.

As far as I know ALL my Christmas shopping is done - I went out to get a last couple of stocking gifts yesterday and couldn't find what I had in mind so I ordered them from Amazon with delivery today and tomorrow. Yeah! I do have a few things to wrap but not a lot. I just counted in my head and there are 9 I think? Most can go into gift bags (my favorite wrapping method).

I need to seriously think about losing sodium and weight after seeing the cardiologist and my PCP yesterday. Though neither is anywhere near where I used to be pre-VSG, it is definitely time to rein in. And I'd like to be able to wear more of my clothing again as well as be able to look my best for a wedding celebration at some point.

Speaking of weddings, Mike thinks we should decide what we are doing while we travel and tell everyone after we get back. Part of the reason is that we think there is a possibility that DD will get engaged over the holiday and we wouldn't want to steal her thunder. But I would kind of like to tell people in early January. I did call Mike my fiancé yesterday when at the doctor's office. That sounded weird but nice to me.

I need to get my act together for doctor appointment #3 this morning (dermatologist). I do intentionally schedule these during my time home and it feels like there are a lot. Then the echocardiogram was added on. Out of 21 days home, 7 are taken up with doctor, dentist, vet, and hair appointments. Tis the season to be busy...

Have a safe and healthy Tuesday!

I'm struggling a bit and WAY overeating to distract from how I'm feeling and it's leading to a lot of weight gain (9 pounds since Thanksgiving). I know if I just stopped now, at least half of that would come off in a week.

Therapy this afternoon, so maybe that will help straighten my head out a bit!

Have a good day all!

Does it tend to be seasonal? Holidays or short days?

Christmas is a part of it. Just lots of little things that on their own would be okay, but collectively make me want to eat everything!

How considerate of Mike to want to make sure your daughter has her moment should she engaged soon.

CC I hope your visit with your therapist helps you with a reset. My gosh this is hard somedays.

My break is officially underway! I am ridiculously excited that DH has tomorrow off and we are going out to breakfast, and then wrap up the grocery shopping and last few gifts. If you're still in the work grind, going out to breakfast on a weekday feels so special.

After DH had to stop driving and I started working a flexible schedule to be around more, I remember one of the first flex days when I was done for the day and we went out to lunch. It felt so freeing and a little bit like I was playing hooky.
