DD made a good point about us entertaining all the time. Yesterday I had a bit of an epiphany (a "Duh" really). When we combine Mike's and my entertaining it adds up to twice as much! The entertaining I do is more or less the same as when DH was alive. But now we have Mike's family and friends added to it. Then there is our desire to travel added in and it makes for one crazy schedule. We probably need to figure out how to temper it all over time.

So nice to be back here with just the 3 of us (Mike, Justice, and I). I need to get back to more basics on eating if only because my innards are not terribly happy.

Today I want to finish up my small amount of Christmas decorating (I brought a few items from my place because Mike doesn't do any). And watch a football game this afternoon.

Have a safe and healthy Sunday!

My Thanksgiving break is flying by! Yesterday my son and his girlfriend made us dinner, and then we all went to see House of Gucci. Definitely not high art, but a campy soap opera that I enjoyed. I did get some schoolwork done in the afternoon, so I can go into Monday morning with a bit more calm.

My son and his girlfriend and dog just left for their 5hour drive to Madison. We'll see them again in a few weeks for Christmas.

Today we are going to Mass to honor the start of Advent. We have not been to in person Mass for a year. I'm looking forward to it. After Mass, we're going to my brother in law's house for a Thanksgiving with DH's family. Their parents have been gone for 30 years. I think it's so special that he and siblings still make time for each other during holidays. It would have been very easy to just turn towards a spouses family and gone forward from there. But all these years, they gather, even though the traditional center that brings people home, parents, aren't there.

My food intake is not tracked and ridiculous. I did drink a protein shake yesterday, not for weight loss purposes, but to insure I got at least some protein in the middle of this carbfest. I have chili ready to go for lunches in the coming week. A healthier week is coming.

Wishing everyone a relaxing and restorative Sunday.

I'm up 5 pounds from my low earlier this week! Carbs are both delicious and vicious. I know it'll come off when I get back home and to eating normally.

Another snow storm today. Today I'm tidying up my house and repacking for tomorrow morning.

Hope you are having good day!

Liz, your schedule overall would be too much for me. I enjoy other types of stress much more than constantly being on the go and entertaining. I know some thrive on it. I do not. (Seems like I thrive on raising large litters of pups and running into medical issues during whelping! I know, to each his own!)

CC, you have plenty of wiggle room right now. Wouldn't even stress over a 5 pound tick. Plus if a carb fest helps move past Dickwad faster, so be it. As long as we know we are using food for emotional reasons, there is no crime in it. It's only when we are unaware and doing it without choice that there is a problem. I think you understand and make the choice. The hard thing is learning to be okay with it.

I bought a Costco pumpkin pie yesterday. Ron questioned it. My response: "I love pumpkin pie! It's once a year." Also, I sent BFF home with a quarter of it last night. But here's the thing. I love pumpkin pie. I can have a slice a day for a few days and be done with it until next Thanksgiving. I'm really okay with that. Plus, I've lost weight over Thanksgiving. I feel like I'm getting a grip on this whole effed up eating thing I've been doing for 40+ years. I'm seeing a light down the road that's pretty cheery.

It is puppy tails and dew claw day. I do not like this day. No, no I don't. Sigh....

Back to school tomorrow. Oh, would it be that I were retired! I am getting closer and closer to being "that teacher" who needs to done! LOL! I think part of my not wanting to go back tomorrow is that I have gotten very little real rest since Wednesday. There, you go Liz.... That's my stress!

Happy Sunday to all.... 'cept to Shirl.... Happy Monday to you!

Does "puppy tails and dew claw day" mean you cut them off? Do you do it or the vet?

Greetings All

Liz, your entertaining schedule would wear me out! Some people are energized by it but not me. Good for you for doing all this to make good memories for your family and Mike's. Important. But so it relaxation time.

Oh Peps, all those little dew claws. My border litter kept theirs since my breeder leaves them. I wish my dogs didn't have them. Enjoy those little pups. Are they squeaking yet?

DD its a chili weekend in our house too. I had some hamburger that needed cooking. Glad you got to Mass. A good thing.

DH has a new creepy show he likes. Three last night. Geez I hope its over soon. We jus****ched Mare of East town which is quite good. I prefer shows without mythical creatures fighting each other.

Must make a pet store run today. Dog food needed and yak chews for the puppy.

And Peps, yes pumpkin pie is the breakfast of champions! A friend made one for us from a home cooked pumpkin. I am going to eat some in a minute. I deserve it because I missed thanksgiving. LOL

Our team managed to lose in a spectacularly stupid manner. Good thing I am not over invested. But I do love the rah rah college atmosphere.

Gallery duty tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it. The area has become increasingly creepy due to vagrants who I am sure are not vaccinated. DH will give me a ride in case there is a homeless person sleeping in the entryway. Not looking forward to it but at least I can set the music to mow town or 70's music.

Thats about it here. Have a great day all. Diane S

Pumpkin is a vegetable isn't it? So pumpkin pie is healthy!

P.S. I was thinking on Thanksgiving how thankful I am to have known Shel. Something made me think of that story she told about her husbands ostrich leather boots - aka the pimple boots. So funny. ds
