Tired, tired, tired after two nights of insomnia. Travel and anticipation keep my mind from shutting off. Probably has something to do with my BP issues.

The sand sculpture festival was fun except that it started raining just when we got there. Luckily it didn't last super long but it was chilly and gray afterwards though the day started out beautiful.

We are driving back to MikeLand now with friends arriving before dinner tonight for a 3 day stay. Clearly no rest for the weary.

Have a safe and healthy Sunday.

Insomnia is the worst, Liz!

Yesterday I had really sharp pains increasing all day in my lower left abdomen accompanied by a fever over 100 from 5 to 11. It really is time for that 50 year old colonoscopy. I remember from my last CT scan the report said I had diverticula. Made me think this might have been diverticulitis? Whatever it is, the pain was breathtaking at times especially going from laying to sitting or sitting to standing. The fever is gone and the pain lessened today. Still taking it easy on food and hydrating today in case that's what it was.

Nothing planned for today other than resting and maybe I'll sort some things in the junk piles.

Hope everyone has a good day!

My MIL had diverticulitis a couple of times. No fun. She was careful eating nuts and seeds after that as they can get trapped and cause issues she said.

From what I read, they don't tell people that anymore, but definitely used to. Obesity, age, smoking, and not eating enough fiber can lead to forming diverticula but what you eat after you have diverticula isn't shown to cause a flare up (which is mostly infection and sometimes perforation). I read clear liquids and then low fiber when you're having a flare and healthy high fiber when you're healed. Some stuff I read said low FODMAP diet is good for diverticula, but I hope not because it cuts out a lot of what I like!

CC.C, do you still have your gall bladder? I've had friends who felt the pain more to the left than in the middle. Are you going to see your doctor?

Liz, I feel tired just reading about your insomnia, and knowing you have to entertain. Having company is fun, but it requires energy. I hope you sleep tonight.

Quiet day here. I picked up my daughter from the airport, now I've read the paper and started some laundry.

I'm liking my fairlife shakes. Yesterday I warmed it and added a shot of espresso. It was pretty tasty. I'm not using them as meal replacement exactly. I'm experimenting with eating a 100 grams or more of protein a day, and this is the most efficient way to hit that target. I haven't been doing so long enough to draw any conclusions. I did sleep really well this weekend, so that was a nice surprise, but I can't say that has anything to do with the increased protein.

We'll be going downtown this afternoon for a casual dinner and then to Oklahoma. Can't wait!

I do still have my gallbladder. This pain is about an inch and a half above where my thigh meets my torso, so I figure it's maybe more intestinal? But I don't know. I've messaged my doctor, so we'll see!

Greetings All

Ouchie CC, get to a doctor. Lots of things it could be. DH had a really low hernia. Appendicits, gall bladder you name it. Hope you get relief soon.

And Liz, so long as I am dispensing medical advice, why not ask your doctor for some Ambien. I use it and its a god send.

So much for Dr. Diane. I have given my gallery notice and so far all are kind to me. But they seem to think that after a six month leave that I will come back and take over as treasurer again. Not gonna happen so I gotta straighten that out. It will be a relief to not get emails about who's job it is to buy toilet paper.

Slow Sunday today. The dogs all got walks. I took Poppy for a few blocks. She wants to orbit me like an asteroid which drives me nuts so we are working on that. Always clockwise. Soon she will learn she does not have to drag me down the street and jump into everyone's shrubs.

DD we still have pot pie left but we are done with eating it. Dogs get a treat tonight. Wish I could send you a pot pie from our health food store deli as they are quite good. Nothing like the frozen swanson's gross out pies.

We go get our covid boosters at costco tomorrow. DH was kind enough to make the appointments. Then I learn we could have received them today at the high school 3 blocks away.

We watched the movie "Finch" last night. Tom Hanks. Kind of a futuristic buddy movie with a cute dog.

Thats about all here. Must forage for frozen burritos.

I took Ambien for quite a while after DD died almost 17 years ago. It got to the point where I couldn't sleep without it but the quality of my sleep was not like "real" sleep. I had to retrain myself to sleep without it so would prefer not to embark on using it again. My insomnia these days usually doesn't last more than 4-5 days in a row at which point I kind of crash.

Good for you in going through with your resignation. It is time for someone else to worry about the toilet paper.
