I remember you, MissNexxie! Glad you joined in. I think we all know so well the struggle of keeping the weight off. I'm glad you've found something that's helping. Control is a huge factor for me, so I totally get that feeling you're talking about and how precious it is to this whole process.

I hope you stay with us!

I'm in here daily but never have much to add. Today, was a sharing day for me. LoL!

Medication is not cheating. Obesity is a multifaceted disease, and we should use every tool available! I tried ephedrine, it did blunt my appetite, but it made me feel crazy. My SIL told me her doctor offered to prescribe metformin as a weight loss aid. What is the mechanism that causes drugs meant to treat diabetes help with weight loss?

It acts to regulate insulin and suppresses appetite. I am not diabetic so I can't speak to the first part but I can confirm it suppresses appetite. Sometimes a little nauseating and can cause GERD and constipation but I've dealt with the last 2 since my sleeve anyway and am on twice daily lansoprazole.

Thank you MissNexxie! I remember you as well. Your insight is super helpful. I did look up Ozempic and it was quite interesting to read about but $850 or so per month is a lot. Something to mention to my cardiologist maybe when I meet with him at the end of the year.

Our private healthcare insurance plan does cover part of the expenses so it runs about $400 Cdn per month for me. Seems awfully expensive in the US. We were able to justify the cost because we'd usually spend more than $100/week on eating out/delivery, etc. I tried Saxenda as well, which is a daily injection, and that did not work as well but it was a *****eaper. Also tried Contrave but it ended up being 4 pills per day and upped my BP. Never tried metformin. It never hurts to ask your specialist about it and sometimes the drug companies offer an initial discount to offset the cost. My plan was to give it 2 months and see how that worked out and decide whether to stay on it or not.

Thank you again! I have issues with high BP so I have to avoid anything that would raise it.

I'm on lisinopril for BP and Ozempic has not caused any issues. I do walk 30 mins daily and I think that helps. "White coat syndrome' causes me more BP issues! Have a good day.

Thanks everyone, I think sometimes we don't offer ourselves the same grace we offer others. On a happier note, I jus****ched a documentary about Dolly Parton. I was so enchanted, I didn't have one single intrusive food thought for almost two hours! Dolly really can do anything.
