Eating was totally off-plan yesterday. We went to a sports bar to watch the Patriots football game and there were wings, salsa, etc. Today is another day.

And today should be fully sunny and warmer (mid-70's). It might be a beach day, but first we will take our 3 mile walk and Mike will go to the gym.

Not much else to report. Have a safe and healthy Monday!

ETA: I have already gotten 3 Christmas gifts (a record for me this early): One is a reservation for New Years at a neat place on the harbor Mike and I saw when we were in Boston. I also ordered really cute personalized books for my 2 new grand nephews. Given that I am usually a totally last minute person I am feeling good about making some headway. Choosing something for my three kids to open other than just a check is tougher..

I had such a fun day with my friend yesterday! She texted this morning, "I am going to package up that memory and keep it in a special shiny glowy box forever, that was a weirdly magical afternoon!" It totally was. So much laughing. We had lunch at the beach, she showed me her gallery, we walked along the cliffs and then we got our ears pierced at a tattoo/piercing shop by a fully tattooed guy with ear lobes he showed us did actually hang low, wobble to and fro and could be tied in a knot or bow. He was so in motion I thought he was high, but his hands were steady and he was very professional and did a great job.

I will say new ear piercings for an insomniac side sleeper are not a great match. But hopefully they won't hurt as much tonight.

I picked well at lunch yesterday (avocado toast with pickled radish, fresh dill and a poached egg) and didn't overeat yesterday. But I wasn't deprived. We also got some macarons. The birthday cake one was the best. A good balance.

Today is a low key day as TOM has arrived with a vengeance after being 11 days late. Maybe it is menopause creeping up on me... So maybe some house tidying to fill the day.

Liz, good job on the Christmas shopping! I find that such a challenge.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Busy dog show weekend. Knee is KILLING me! I did some on line reading. Sounds very much like a torn meniscus. I have a telephone appointment with my primary care physician tomorrow at lunch time. Fingers crossed. At the very least, I need something more for the pain. I'm going to burn a hole in my stomach with ibuprofen if I keep having to take anti inflammatories to deal with the pain.

My food consumption on Friday was abysmal! Saturday was somewhat better, but not a whole lot. Yesterday was not great either, but I didn't eat a lot. Luckily, weight is remaining stable. Food is on track so far for today. What I need to do is really check in about my after lunch chocolate drive. It rears its ugly head every so often during the school year and right now it is feeling like a very strong driver in my derailment issues of late. After lunch chocolate - the gateway drug to an afternoon of food debauchery!

It has been wonderful having company over the past 5 days. I enjoy having someone at home to share in my dog addiction. It's really very nice.

Short school week this week. We have Thursday and Friday off. Yay! Then one week on and then a full week off for Thanksgiving Break. I feel like a little slice of heaven is just waiting to be served up with that upcoming schedule.

Best to one and all!

Greetings A;;

Its a gloomy Monday and I have gallery duty in the afternoon. It will be slow which means I get to crank up my 60's music and travel back in time. also must take multiple crossword puzzles.

Speaking of puzzles, my best friend from law school was on the NPR puzzle show yesterday with Will Shortz. Marion from Cheyenne. She did great. It was fun to hear.

I made chili yesterday and it was an especially good batch. I think its the grass fed 90% lean beef. Really a pretty healthy thing except for the crackers I put into my dish.

Old dog Chip is getting so senile. He stands and barks at us for no reason. I have tried some mild sedation but it makes him stumble. We give him food, treats, attention and whatever. He will be 15 in a couple of weeks.

Both galleries are ramping up for Christmas which means more duty. We fight and argue every year about how long to stay open. In my old age I hate being out after dark but I can at least get DH to give me rides.

Cecily sorry your thyroid is acting up. Hope it can get settled down without unpleasant treatment.

And DD sorry your mom is not well. Be glad you got to take her to the craft store. I so remember the last time I took my mom shopping and got her to try on all kinds of ridiculous clothes like an ostrich feathered vest.

Congrats on your dog show success Peps.

And just what is it about chocolate that is so compelling and addictive??

Cheers all. Diane S

Not yet 5pm and the sun has set here. I never think the morning light is worth the trade off. If we didn't do day light savings, it would be dar****il about 8:30 am, but the sun wouldn't set until 6pm. I would prefer that.

Possible snow this week, but we have really had an outstanding weather run this fall. I am wearing boots again, and my feet are not suffering too much.

Diane S, I feel your pain over senile old pet. Our cat used to be generally mellow, now, he meows and howls if he is awake. Its like some kind of torture. He is such a precious boy, I hate thinking mean thoughts about him, but some mornings I just whisper to him, shut up, please, for the love of God, stop meowing.

Liz, you remind me I need to get going on gifts. All the reports of supply problems make me feel panicky.

Peps, whether its a torn meniscus or not, you need relief. I ended up on crutches about15 years ago. It presented like a meniscus tear, but the MRI showed it was off the track, so to speak, and physical therapy put it right again. It took awhile, and I still can't open it all the way, but its very close.

Cecily, impulsive ear piercings? What's going on? :) I can't keep piercings open in my ears, so I finally let them close all the way. I miss earrings though. Maybe some clip ons ....

WW is announcing another new plan. Hope springs eternal, maybe this is the answer! My plan so far this week is also a big pot of chili. I don't mind eating the same thing for lunch many days in a row.

I haven't had chili for a while. I love that stuff. It was dark here by 5:45 - I HATE that!
