This is the last full week Mike and I will be alone for quite a while. I have friends from home coming next week, Mike's kids and we are in Siesta Key for the week of Thanksgiving. Mike's sisters are here the following week, my DD and her BF arrive for a few days after that and we fly back to Massachusetts in mid-December. Then there is Christmas and 3 months of travel commences in early January. Whew!

I need to get serious about cutting back on eating so I can get down another 10 pounds before January. WW is starting a new type of plan tomorrow. Maybe I should start attending meetings for a while to get incentive.

Today it is very cool (52 this morning), so laundry and errands are the plan for the day. We usually do that on Mondays but we may go you the beach tomorrow instead.

Have a safe and healthy Sunday!

My sleep is still weird. I got 4 hours last night. For someone who used to easily get 8-9 or more a night, this is torture. Maybe it's perimenopause. Last night I wasn't hungry at all after a big lunch, so I skipped dinner. A decision I regretted when my stomach was growling at midnight. Too late to eat and then sleep, but hard to sleep when I'm hungry. Conundrum. At least the scale was 185.4 this morning.

I had my endocrinologist appt and we discussed needing to do something about my thyroid. It's too erratic and getting harder to manage with medication. So I can do surgery to remove it (risks are general anesthesia and the nerves that control swallowing and voice run there) or radioactive iodine (it's radiation, can't be around anyone for a week, temporary things like loss of taste/smell). I am leaning toward radiation. She wants to do it in February and lowered my meds until then (the more overactive your thyroid is, the better it takes up the radiation). So maybe I'll lose a few pounds in the meantime if my appetite doesn't skyrocket to compensate...

Despite the darker evenings, this is my favorite time change for the extra hour in the morning to sleep. If I could sleep.

Today I'm hanging out with my friend who is getting a divorce so she doesn't have to be around her husband who is still in their small house. I'm taking her to lunch and I want her to show me the new gallery she's in (she's an artist). It's at the beach, so maybe we'll walk too.

Not much new on the MI guy front. He doesn't seem to sleep either. Texts a lot at night and calls when he's tired of typing. He was a philosophy major, his mind jumps around A LOT, and he's a messy typer, so he frequently loses me. I wish he was more communicative about what he's feeling/thinking. Until then, I am operating as if we're just friends. Which would be just fine.

I think that's all I have. Hope you all have good days!

Could your thyroid issues be causing the lack of sleep?

I wish! I'm hypo at the moment, which should make me tired. The med change will intentionally make me hyper which makes it harder to sleep.

My DB and DSIL are both out tonight, so Sadie and I have the house to ourselves. I was supposed to get a pedicure a half hour from her grooming appointment, but she was stressed and drooling, and I cancelled my appointment in case she needed to be picked up early. So far, so good and I'm having a Pinot grigio and bacon wrapped app for dinner!

Good Morning All

Start of the working week here again. I came in an hour later than normal today so as to avoid all the staff. DH had a Covid test yesterday as a precaution so Im just protecting the team. Im here by myself so no risk to anyone. Expect his results within the next 2-3 hours as he was processed as a priority. But the Dr is fairly certain hes negative as he doesnt have a temp nor loss of smell or taste.

Busy day and I will likely go to the hardware store after work - assuming DH has a negative result. We both watched a couple of movies yesterday afternoon. It was bliss to just blob and relax. Much needed. He is feeling much better this morning after a reasonable sleep.

Liz - Sounds like your schedule is very busy with family and socialising :) Lovely

Cec - Sorry to hear about the lack of sleep - thats torture :( Hope they can get your thyroid sorted easily and you are feeling much better soon

Diane O - Cheers x Hope Sadie came through her apt ok and you are both relaxing now

Love to all that follow. I had best go tackle the mountain of work thats waiting

Have a wonderful evening all

Hi everyone, got caught up on reading posts from Friday and Saturday. We had a great fall weather weekend, it was warmer here than it was for Liz! My visit with my Mom went well. She wanted to go to some craft stores on Saturday. I got lots of exercise loading and unloading her wheelchair, and pushing her around. I am probably a much better shopping partner in a craft store than my Dad, so I think it was a win for both of them. But by Saturday night my Mom was in a great deal of pain (maybe overdid it), and eventually had to take some of her super duper heavy duty painkillers. She starts radiation for a probable tumor in her spine (its in a location that can't be biopsied, but is growing rapidly, so it is assumed to be cancer), and she is hoping it reduces the pain.

DH had to work Saturday, but not today. So, after work, he also drove out to my parents house. That was so sweet, my Mom was very happy to see him, and I thought it was kind of romantic he didn't want to be apart 2 nights in a row.

Now home, and trying not to panic about everything I didn't get done because I wasn't here. Its the 3rd Saturday in a row I haven't been home. I am using a sick day Wednesday to take DH for his colonoscopy, so maybe I can catch up on a few things then. Tomorrow should go fine, right? Yes it will. :) Here's to everyone having a tranquil Monday, except for our Shirl, who's already done Monday. Happy Tuesday Shirl!
