I lost a pound in the last 5 days! I know it isn't a lot, but as you know I am not tracking. Just trying to plan and eat healthy most days but allowing a couple of days of slight transgressions. So losing at all is a huge win for me. And good that I started it now as it gets busy over the next few weeks until we go north for Christmas. Then we have the holidays to contend with and we leave for Hawaii. So figuring out a good pattern of eating that I can live with feels very positive.

My golf clinic yesterday was really good. It was the first time I felt that I was making shots which would work in an actual game. I was relaxed and receptive enough to listen to corrections and make them work. Some of what Mike told me to do wasn't working for me so I am learning what will. My only goal is to be able to do 9 holes without being completely frustrated or embarrassed. I met a couple of ladies from our development who were taking the same clinic (instead of the much more expensive ones on the golf courses here). Very friendly people and I was informed that the 9 hole ladies league is lots of fun and nobody really cares if you play well. Maybe I can do that next year!

Today Mike plays in a men's golf league and will probably have lunch with them afterwards so I will do a long walk with Justice then maybe poke around some furniture consignment shops and local coastal furniture stores. I'm not doing anything this season before the tenants come except things they won't disrupt (like curtains and shelf decor). But in April if all is well, I will be swapping a lot of furniture with my east coast place before I put it on the market. Next year I will probably try to get it all to work together and determine what else I want to do, but it would be good to find some go-to places for items before that time comes.

I was musing about Mike and my relationship yesterday. In the almost 1.5 years we have been together we have settled into a comfortable to be together couple at our age, but with spark about doing things together and going out. It feels like the right place to be at.

Oh and I spoke with younger DD the other day. She said her BF asked what kind of proposal she would want: A very public one, in front of family, or just between the two of them. Coming soon maybe!!!

Time to get my act together for walking. Have a safe and healthy Wednesday!

Good job shifting the pound Liz!

Yesterday I had lunch with a few friends and a stroll around a local harbor. Turned out to be a pretty day after a socked in foggy morning. Then I had my first therapy appt since May. It was good to catch up. She had some helpful thoughts about MI guy.

I had to buy a new computer as my old one crapped out during the last update. I mostly use an iPad, but there is some stuff that's just harder to do on that. So I got that set up last night. I do love a new gadget...

Today I have my annual internist doctor's appt. I've got my list of things to discuss, most importantly the arthritis I've developed in some of my fingers. I also expect to get my colonoscopy orders. Ah aging.

Then maybe an evening walk would be good. I'm holding steady around 186, which I'm happy about.

Wishing you all good days!

Do you have a MacBook or a laptop? I always had a laptop at work but the last time I bought my own I got a MacBook so it is integrated with my iPad and iPhone.

Holding steady is good!

I had an iMac before (the desktop one) and just got a MacBook. I am very much an Apple person! I had to use a Windows PC a few weeks ago and it was completely foreign to me. I couldn't even figure out where the browser was...

Liz, I beginning to think you are probably one of those athletic people! A ladies golf league sounds fun!

Cecily, I envy your ability to keep your weight in a zone you can live with. That's great work, both emotionally and physically.

Today we finished a lesson in goal setting in one of my small group classes. Each student set a personal and academic goal. I modeled setting a goal to do my strength training routine. We talked about the obstacles and solutions to meeting my goal, how to be specific etc. Similar to the SMART goal model, but you don't want to call it that, because everyone is very tired of SMART goals. I invited my students to be my accountability. They decided I should be able to do my routine 4 times a week, and they'll be checking in with me on Mondays this quarter to see how I'm doing. They wrote some awesome, well defined and obtainable goals too. Looking forward to helping them track their academic goals for sure, and their personal ones if they want me to.

As part of my trying to manage my life better, I did place an order for groceries to be delivered. I bought some grab and go things or grab and microwave things again that are decently nutritious and tasty. Lots of chobani yogurts, veggies in steamer bags, pre chopped salad mixes, etc.

I'm going to take a quick nap, then I guess I'd better do my exercise routine!

That's a great lesson for all of us to set manageable goals and build in accountability.

No, I have never really been the athletic type. I was never on any sports teams. The one thing I always did regardless of weight or other life complications is take walks. When I was younger for a few years that morphed to running but eventually I had to stop. I only have gone to gyms sporadically and never played tennis, golf, pickle ball or any of that stuff. The closest I got to golf was the miniature version LOL.
