November already! The time is flying by!

It is cool this morning (60), but no complaints as that means the humidity is low so today will be what we usually have in the fall in Florida vs the 90 degree/humid days we had in our first couple of weeks here.

I was more or less back on the healthy eating/no wine wagon yesterday and have food planned to continue it this week.

Today is laundry and possibly power washing the lanai and the slider windows. We got the front walkway done and all other windows yesterday. We are having a terrible time with no-see-ums getting through the screens in the lanai this year, which was not an issue last year. I don't know how to deal with it as spraying fogger directly on the screens doesn't seem to work.

Have a safe and healthy Monday!

Liz, I am being attacked here by aedes aegypti mosquitoes. Not native as we used to not have any here. These you can hardly see, unswattable, voracious ankle biters and disease spreaders, bite any time of day and can reproduce in less than a tablespoon of water including your sink drains. Nasty! No see ums that get through screens sound terrible too!

I did a 7.5 mile hike with my friend yesterday and it was brutal. So many steep inclines. I ended up with a bunch of blisters and was so tired I went to bed at 7. Which also meant I was done sleeping at 4. Argh.

Doctor appt and hair appointment today. Maybe a car wash or a Costco run if the mood strikes.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Maybe mine are the same insects - who knows? Tiny little things that also bite all around the ankles and leave lots of itchy little bumps. I ordered an indoor bug zapper from Amazon after googling options so we will see if it works.

Greetings all

Halloween was a sucesss last night. No telling how many hundred kids we got but it was huge. Steady lines up and down the sidewalk. DH put out a bowl on a tray by the garage and watched from the porch. We all waived from inside. It was fun. There was some guy out in a costume on stilts - over 10 feet tall - it was amazing. Near the end we were giving out candy by the handful as we had so much and all the kids said DH was "da bomb".

The rest of us sat inside watching and eating and drinking. The meat cheese and veggie trays were HUGE and we had way too much food as others brought stuff too. I sent some of it home and gave veggies to neighbor. A good time. The only issue was my studio buddy tends to be kind of loud and she was just over the top last night talking non stop and not letting anyone else talk. I am going to have to speak to her about this. It is rather manic but she is kind of getting worse. Oh well.

So we were pretty dang tired last night. I just can't do what I once did and Das boot did not help. I finally took it off at about 8 pm.

Today I got gallery checks done and did financial projections for the year. We are going to have too much money and must resolve that. Gallery takes a lot of time - we are arguing about the toilet and sign painting. Gees.

Don't you hate those little biting bugs? Thats one reason we live here as its too cold for a lot of them. I do put mosquito dunks in the bird bath - some kind of harmless bacteria that keeps the mosquitoes from reproducing. Some say put up a bat house as they eat mosquitoes but how can you know if bats move in?

So lots of leftover cold cuts for me to eat. Better than english muffin.

Stay well all. diane s

I started writing a post yesterday, but never ended up finishing the post.... By the time I remembered, I was tired, so I thought, "Eh.... I will check in tomorrow."

Tomorrow is today and I'm tired. Dog show weekend was tiring and then with Halloween I stayed up way too late for a school night. On top of going to bed after midnight, my knee is hurting at night. I wake up every so often with significant discomfort. Those periodic awakenings are not adding to my rest!!!!

I do not enjoy this lameness. I am going to be a bit of a ***** about getting my knee fixed - whatever it takes. Can't live like this - mostly because it gets in the way of me showing my dogs, and that's just not okay, but also the knee pain interferes with daily activity like walking from my classroom to the office. I feel I am far too young to be dealing with this **** but I also know I am predisposed to having joint issues because of my bone disease. Fingers crossed I can get a good doc who will know just what needs to be done.

Hoping to leave work a little early so I can get an xray on the way home. The xray has been ordered, so it's just a matter of going in and having it done.

Not much else, except I want to take a nap! LOL

I feel you on the nap thing Peps. I might start working one into my day, if I get home by four.

Bugs are terrible in Minnesota during our sub tropical summers, but freezing temperatures, and they are gone. Does mosquito repellant help?

Diane, I knew your party would be a success! Food, wine, some good company (although over talker is bothersome) and all is well.

My kids were together over the weekend in Salem, Ma. I'm getting limited texts, but sounds like they had fun.

We had a good amount of trick or treaters, almost no leftover candy.

I got so much done at work, and took care of lots of little annoying things that were taking up too much space in my brain. I'm starting to come to terms with what I might cut to leave some energy for actual lesson plans and student connections. I'm happy with the plans I have for the next few weeks.

A friend bought me the newish Fair life protein drink. Its shelf stable, 150 calories, 30grams of protein, 4grams of carbohydrates, and really exciting to me, 70% of your calcium. They are still not the most delectable thing ever, but they were an improvement over other shakes I've used. Sold at Costco.

After having so many shakes pre-surgery and in the year following surgery I have a hard time drinking them. I try to get my calories via more satisfying means like chewing dense protein. I still remember missing the chewing so much! But maybe they would be helpful for weight loss? One of the men in my previous in-person WLS support group had surgery many years before I did. Every few years he would find himself having put on too many pounds and would use a liquid diet to reduce. It worked for him, but I am just not sure I could do it.

Insect repellent does work but I hate having it on my skin and having to wa**** off before I go to bed. Lazy...

Peps, I am checking in with two DDs, two sisters and a brother every morning when I start out, and every afternoon when I stop. I am well monitored and loved. Stopped a bit earlier than planned today because of freezing rain in mountains. Sadie is such a great buddy !
