Happy Halloween 2021!
Are any of you doing anything for Halloween? Dressing up? Giving out candy? Going to a party? We aren't doing any of that. There aren't any children here to give candy out to and we decided not to go to the Halloween dinner dance at the clubhouse tonight.
Today's plans include power washing, window washing, and errands. Plus I figured out how to run my iRobot so it won't get stuck on the slider channel like it did last time. Mike says it doesn't look like it needs vacuuming but I KNOW there are Justice hairs at minimum everywhere. That's why I like the iRobot to keep up with those hidden things. But he isn't as finicky as me. He hasn't noticed that I have dusted a few places and done some spot bathroom cleaning. Such a guy! In fact I am not sure he has cleaned his windows in years because he always had the blinds down and closed. Now that I have curtains up, some of the blinds are up so there is more light and the greenery outside is visible. And so are the dirty windows so he decided it is time to wash them. LOL!
Diane O, safe travels and Peps suggestion on check-ins is a really good idea.
Have a safe and Happy Halloween however you spend it!

Last night I met a few friends for dinner on Balboa Island and then we walked the perimeter looking at all the Halloween decorations. Those people go all out! It was great to spend time with them.
MI guy is stepping up the communication. I think he called 3 times yesterday for a total of a few hours? And lots of texting. It'll be interesting to see if anything feels different when I go back for Thanksgiving. I'm not holding my breath as that seems to be his pattern - attentive and flirtatious on the phone and in texts, zero interest vibes in person. But the attention now is nice. My friends last night agreed that if nothing else it's good practice.
I didn't eat very well yesterday, but I walked nearly 9 miles so I'm okay with my choices. The cheeseburger I had last night was worth it!
No plans for Halloween. I don't think I'll hand out candy because then it's just here to eat and my front door is not convenient to the family room where I hang out, so it's kind of a pain.
Attention is good and I agree with your friends on the practice.

Greetings All
Happy Halloween! We have about 10 pounds of candy here and so far I have not touched one piece! Don't I get some kind of prize for that? Eat candy as a reward for not eating candy? Much of it is stuff I don't like such as sweet tarts but there is also some of the GOOD STUFF - like Reeces peanut butter cups. I will likely eat some of those.
We are preparing for the Halloween party. I have given up on the clutter and it will just be. Picking up the meat, cheese and veggie trays at 3. Hope its enough. Got a half case of fancy high priced wine so maybe no one will notice inadequate food. Got all the glassware and plates out last night and feel better that the table is cleared off. Hope it stays dry. Candy is just going to be on a tv tray at the end of the driveway. Our kitchen is a bay window so we can see the costumes from there. Our friend who is the dessert queen is bringing a sweet. And I have unboxed our collection of witch hats for use. I found all kinds of other masks and such I had forgotten about. And tons of decorations up and down our street including the talking witches.
Yes I am still wearing DAS Boot. Guess I should incorporate it into a Halloween costume. I see the doctor tuesday and hope to be emancipated from it but we will see.
Ouch for Goat. duct taped together? Works or me. And yeah we have learned that you cannot run microwave or coffee heater on batteries. But we can do the TV and refrigerator. We have not yet had any power outages this year. Knock on wood.
Liz, what is it about men that they can't see dirt. Or clutter for that matter.
Our football team did terrible yesterday. Really pathetic. BB I think I will become a Sooner fan. Ditto Oregon Ducks.
I did a gallery shift for 3.5 hours the other day which was not too bad with das boot other than parking. Few visitors so I did crosswords and played iPad games. Got the wine from the little tasting room across the street. Its a great cozy place to stop in for a glass of wine and I was pleased to see they are doing that again - people at outside tables in the garden. Wish I had had the time to stop and visit. Lovely group of people my age.
We have been watching "The Morning Show" on Apple tv. It is awesome. I thought it was a sit com but its not. Excellent drama. Cant wait to see what happens.
Cecily enjoy MI guy. Love hearing about it all. And I don't blame you for not giving out candy as you have to keep going to the door. Thats how we started our Halloween tradition here - so many kids come that we invited guests to share candy duty.
DianeO good idea of Peps for you to check in with family at regular intervals. And interstate 80 all the way across Nebraska has sculpture displays at all the rest stops that were part of the USA bicentennial. Worth a look. Stay safe.
Cheers all. Eat a peanut butter cup. Diane S
Your party sounds like it will be a hoot! Lucky for me that I don't like Reese's Cups. But don't get a dish of Milky Ways or Kit Kat's near me!

Yesterday was busy! We left the house at 10:30am and got home at 11:00pm.
First event was my Mom's birthday party. She was unsettled at first, but once her brothers started arriving she got into it. It was really nice too for my Dad. My parents have been married over 60 years, her brothers are his brothers too.
After that party wrapped up we joined some friends at a Halloween party. It was kind of a work party hosted by DH's best friends brother. The brother is our friend too, but we didn't really know the other guests. DH and his best friend were doing bartender duty, and best friend's wife and I were invited. Interesting crowd. I had fun, had some nice drinks, chatted with some nice people. It was interesting though, to watch women flirting with my husband. Since most of the guests didn't know us, and I was hanging out with my friend, (the other wife), I don't think people put it together that his wife was there. No worries, DH is the most faithful of men, and I admire their good taste!
Today I had lunch with a group of friends. Very excellent to see them. We are going to try to get back to a monthly gathering.
I'm expecting trick or treaters to be heavy from 6-7. There's a Vikings game at 7pm, so my guess is lots of Dads are going to encourage their little kids to wrap it up by then.
Tomorrow is a workshop/training day. It always feels like somewhat of a day off, even though I will be working hard, grading, writing IEPs , progress reports etc.
Safe travels Diane O. Peps hope the rest of your dog show weekend went smoothly. Liz, Yoga sounds like such a good idea. Cecily, Michigan guy is my new favorite series, tune in dear reader to find out what happens tomorrow on "Michigan Guy". And Diane, you had me at, good wine. Anything else is a bonus.
I'm so glad that your Mom's party went well. My DH's last birthday party was almost exactly two years ago. DS was adamant about doing it though I didn't think it was a good idea. I think DS knew it would be his last. DH didn't understand much but his friends where very happy to see him for what turned out to be the last time.
DH and you clearly have a great relationship built on trust. Lucky you!

Hello Lovely Tribe
MIA has been the order of the moment since we got out of lockdown. I have so enjoyed seeing family and friends again but boy am I out of practice!!! Who knew....
I drove down from a lovely BBQ at DH Army friends farm yesterday. They reclaimed a lovely old shed (barn) and built it on there property. Its simply stunning. Her daughter is getting married there next September and I think it will be devine. Will pop pictures on TT. My Stepson and Grandbabies came up for the weekend. They are all still up at the farm with DH. I had to come back for work. Tommorrow is a public holiday so they will come down - DH will get a lift with DSS. We are going to DSD for lunch. Im looking forward to it.
On other news, my Mum is now fully vaccinated so thats a relief. We are on track to reach 90% fully vax by the end of the month. The cases are still high but they have "promised" no more lockdowns. I am wary but time will tell. For now Im just enjoying being free. Hope to go get some much needed work clothes on Thursday after work. I need to try on clothes and that doesnt work for online shopping. Have a Eye Test apt for Friday as well. Who knew it would be exciting to be able to book in self care appointments...
My weight well I am not ready to deal with that at the moment. That will come in time.
Work has been insanely busy - commercial irrigation means that when the sun comes out the phones ring off their hooks. It makes the days go very fast and I could work more hours than I am but Im trying to find some balance. 50+ hrs a week is enough.....
Liz - I saw some kids out trick or treating last night when I drove thru a few towns but I wasnt here so didnt do anything. We dont celebrate as widely as you do in the States
Cec - oh I had totally missed out on the MG updates. How exciting :)
Diane S - Your gathering sounds lovely :)
Diane O - Safe Travels to you
Peps - Also to you :) I need to go back and catch up on all the news
DD - Your gatherings sounded lovely too :)
Well I had best keep moving. The phones are quiet so I am powering through stuff
Take care all and Happy Halloween x
S
Unfortunately it doesn't look like most of the US will ever reach 90%. But here in our part of Florida where vaccination is at about 70% of those eligible and 90% for those over 65 we are enjoying the lowest rate of spread in the country. Perhaps because the variant went wild this summer and/or because we are outside mostly now that the heat has abated. When the topic comes up in a group the number of people who say they had Covid is really high compared to on Cape Cod. But right now on the Cape it is spreading at about 3 times the rate of here.
