I've heard good things about the Drive Weather app, but haven't tried it myself.

That's great that you are moving forward. I am sure it will feel better when those ties are severed.

Google Maps sometimes has closures but not always. WAZE uses the most recent routes of users so it can work well especially in areas where a lot of people are using it.

Ordinary day today. School is a grind, but the students bring the energy and fun. I really do have some awesome kids.

Saturday is the birthday party for my Mom, hope she can attend! In the evening, DH and I are going to a Halloween party. We won't be able to dress up though, no time between gatherings. We plan to hand out candy on Sunday, but will not buy it until the last minute.

Sounds like the weather on each coast is being pretty extreme. DD is in Boston, she said Jamaica Plains had power, but echos Liz, that her friends on the Cape do not.

Greetings All

Big trip to the grocery store today to get crackers, pickles and all that little stuff for Halloween. Came home with two bags of groceries which is a lot for me. House cleaner came today for some extra work as we are extra dirty. Thats what you get with three dogs.

DianeO so glad you are making progress. A big road trip will be fun too. Yep, AAA does good stuff. I forget about them since we don't travel much these days but they have the best maps. I love maps, hate GPS.

No power outages here - I think the big parts of the storm were to the south of us. No bomb. Just decent rain. And sun today, Hoping it stays dry for Halloween.

We have some good friends and the woman has alzheimers - fairly advanced. Her husband still works as a therapist and hires a care giver. He has been hinting lately that it would be helpful if someone could come stay with her so he does not have to pay someone. I know he means me as he thinks I have nothing to do but I am unwilling - don't know how to care for a person who can't go potty alone. He asked me to do some for tomorrow but fortunately I have gallery duty. Phew. But I am going to have to be up front. Also their house has stairs with no railing and as long as I am in Das Boot, thats a no can do. It kind of makes me angry that he acts like he has to work so hard to pay for her care. These folks are in their 80's. Oh well, things will pass.

Mexican food - who knew Taco bell was healthy? We call it Alpo Bell. LOL . But I too crave mexican food often. What is it that is so addictive about it? Seems like its the same four ingredients rearranged. I don't remember what we ate when we were actually in Mexico but it was not tacos.

No plan for dinner tonight except "look in the freezer". Not much of a plan.

Cheers all. Diane S

Don't agree to help with caretaking. It is hard emotionally and sometimes physically. Ultimately watching the decline so closely is wrenching. He might be able to get some help through some social service agencies. If he goes to any Alzheimers support groups they are a good source of information for in-home support (free or otherwise). And BTW if he hasn't sought out that kind of group he should.
