Cecily, I am unimpressed with the gift of M&Ms. Why?! It shows knowledge of you, you like peanut M&Ms. But not the deeper understanding of the hard, hard work you do to maintain your weight loss. Its tone deaf at best. Personally, I would throw them down the garbage disposal, because there is no way, in the emotional state I've been in, I could control my intake. And I wouldn't feel one bit guilty. But that's me ...

I get it. It always surprises me these days when my dad encourages my eating junk food considering how he was the harsh one when it came to my weight/eating. It goes along the lines of that pervasive mindset that if thinner people eat a lot it's fun, decadent, hilarious, indulgent, acceptable. But if overweight people do the same, they're a glutton, have no self-respect, don't take care of themselves, or it's gross. I get you on the throwing it out idea, but for now I'm practicing a little moderation and weighing out a portion. I'm not eating any more than I would buying them bag by bag. And I'm leaving them here when I leave Monday.
I took a big ziploc bag of them to MI guy's office today. As I handed them over, I said here's 2500 calories, enjoy. The remaining ones are out of sight in the pantry now.
Why is it that so many people who totally know you stuggle with weight and sweets are the ones who bring you JUNK!! Bet its true for all of us.
And the same people who, when we were kids, gave us tennis rackets and other sports stuff that we hated. I had a friend who always struggled with weight who was given gold clubs at a young age!! Seriously!!
Good on you Cici for giving away the m's
