Tomorrow we leave for Florida! And as DD surmised we are doing a "Just get it done" drive. Since we did so many stops last year and have a lot of traveling coming in the first 3 months of next year we don't feel a need to sightsee this time. But we will pay attention to safety and stop an extra day if necessary.
Lots of laundry and car packing to do today but I think we are in good shape. My checklist is getting smaller. I save them for every trip and copy/edit the one closest to the trip coming up. Always a lifesaver.
Have a safe and healthy Friday!

The mood across the driveway has improved today. Staying away was a good decision! He walked part of my walk with me and I had the rest on my own to recharge. Good compromise.
The scale was very kind to me today. 186.4. Still a few above a "normal BMI", but a good place to be for me. Back nearly to where I was after getting back from England.
The funeral plans have been worked out and my aunt is getting one of the 2 remaining spots in the family plot. It's in Spring Grove cemetery in Cincinnati which I learned is not only a national landmark and renowned arboretum, but is also the 3rd largest cemetery in the country. She loved to visit the family and her friends "planted" there as she used to say, so good that she got a spot.
Gray and rain coming here, but warm, so it's kind of sticky. I've been dealing with a weird guy at the appliance store to order my appliances. How many phone calls can it possibly take to put in an order? So far we're at 5 and a promise of more. Argh. And none of them quick. Very much a Michigan thing in my experience. Why do anything in 2 minutes if you can take 15? Or 30? Or a week? Can you imagine a New Yorker dealing with a Michigander? No doubt the New Yorker's head would explode. My laidback California self can hardly take it sometimes.
Off to the store to get something for dinner...
Today we had a homecoming pepfest, which was nicknamed Covidfest. Covid numbers are rising rapidly, with even some vaccinated people testing positive. I'm confident if I get Covid, I won't be hospitalized, but with fall vacation coming up, I don't want to risk even a mild case. And my teaching partner is having surgery the end of the month. I'd feel terrible if I was a vector, and he caught something that would postpone his surgery. So I'll be masking up at work for the next week and a half.
New Orleans bound on the 20th!! I am so looking forward to all the big easy has to offer.
The weather here is heavenly. We usually have a hard freeze by this time. Cold weather will come, but for now, still having dinner on the deck.
New Orleans has always been such a cool place!
