I'm still feeling a bit in a post-anniversary funk possibly because I am alone (Mike is golfing). I am at the beach where it is windy and cloudy but still pleasant listening to the water. I always feel better here so try to go when I am feeling this way. I will probably take Justice for a long walk later.

Yesterdays trip to Martha's Vineyard was great - just the right amount of time and activity (6 hours). We had a great dinner at a popular restaurant but it was so quiet compared to the middle of summer. Mike really enjoyed it.

DS returned from visiting my brother in Washington state yesterday. He had a great trip but commented that his cousin and partner who just became parents fight a LOT. The cousin is very high strung as his mother was. Not ideal for my brother who shares his home with them.

Have a safe and healthy Monday!

Sorry about the funk, Liz. I think it's completely understandable, though. You had a strong marriage and still would, if Paul hadn't been afflicted by Alzheimer's.

The weekend came and went far too quickly for my liking! It was productive though. Blitz is looking great! Yard is looking really, really good. We did a little replanting yesterday of a few plants that didn't make the transplant and planted some pots for the front porch. I did not get the shopping for food done, but was able to manage creating a healthy breakfast and lunch for today.

Weight dropped close to 3 pounds over the weekend, so I must have let go of the water I was holding after last week's strenuous workouts.

I thought more about my hunger issues and I am thinking I might be closer to accepting hunger on my terms to lose a little of the extra fat I am carrying. I am focusing on fat loss rather than weight because of my working out routine. I might be better off taking waist, neck and thigh measurements to gauge the fat loss than the scale. Will keep you posted on how this progresses.

I am missing some of the voices of our tribe.

I am missing the voices too. And nobody has joined in for a long time.

I think your more holistic approach to fat loss will serve you well.

I agree with Peps, Liz, that it would be understandable be in a bit of a funk. 40 years is a big milestone, and before Paul's illness, it would have seemed a certainty.

I've got some students with big needs on my caseload. I will not borrow trouble by fretting too much, but some are just getting out of day treatment or in patient treatment. In my experience, teenagers who needed in patient treatment really struggle with returning to a large, traditional school. I'll do my best.

Last night was near perfect weather, so DH and I ate on a patio overlooking a park with lots of greenery and a pond. The food was awesome, and I felt like I enjoyed and savored it, but didn't over indulge. Its always gratifying when I can find that sweet spot.

Today our union hosted a lunch at a lake side park. I wasn't going to go initially, but the weather was so nice, and some co-workers encouraged me to come along, I decided to go. Sub sandwiches, chips, cookie. The sandwiches were smallish slices, so I took 2, doubled up on the meat, tossed some of the bread, tossed half the chips, and left the cookie. I will count it as another win.

More of the same at work tomorrow.

It does seem the number of people participating gets smaller and smaller. I've wondered if we are close to winding down as a forum. But even with just a few of us posting, I feel like I am gaining new insights, both about maintenance, and life, and for that, I will still keep showing up. Based on views, there are more people who are checking in than posting. For anyone who is wondering, we'd love to have you join us!

Greetings All

Lots of errands today. Can't believe I used to do a full time job and then all these same errands. Dry cleaners, bank, studio, art gallery, groceries. Lots of miles on the electric car.

Speaking of the car, ours is a 2018 Chevy Bolt under recall because a very few have spontaneously caught fire. It will be awhile before we can replace the battery modules. So we only charge it during the day time now and stay within certain charge ranges. Even with all this, I am totally sold on the electric car concept.

We get new members once in awhile but I wish we had more. I sometimes message new people to welcome them and encourage participation. Our discussion ranges far beyond the basic maintenance concept but my own feeling is that we are all about all aspects of life and all such things impact weight and vice versa.

Liz thinking of you today. Anniversaries must be hard.

Yay Peps, a grand champ. And you are going to Montgomery County, terrier mecca of the universe!

So sad for hurricane victims in the south. Must be a nightmare.

Take care all you peeps!

Late post!

Weight holding steady. Not bad considering. It helps not to keep food around and to stick with coffee only for breakfast.

Today was just beautiful. I drove up M-22 (voted in several publications as one of the most scenic roads in the country and it starts in my town) through the apple and cherry orchards to Frankfort to buy local chocolates as a gift. Not the chocolates I originally planned as that store took the week off for their employees. Very nice of them, but bad timing for my trip! The apple trees are positively dripping with apples, though I hear it's a bad year here for Honeycrisps as they had a warm spell followed by cold when the flowers were forming. It's always a bad year for some crop. Must be terribly hard to be a farmer.

I got my Covid test at Walgreens and it came back within the hour as negative. Very easy and "free" (insurance pays, I imagine) to get tested there if you ever need it. I got the Abbott ID Now test - so much faster than a PCR and can be used for international travel to Canada and the UK. I'm working on packing lists and we took a leisurely boat ride around the lake this evening. Really pretty. The crickets are loud tonight and it's still in the 70s after dark. Sounds and feels like a summer night.

Tomorrow I really need to get myself organized. I leave for the airport late Wednesday morning. I'll try to pop in before I leave and while I'm gone!

Take care all...

I never think about apples until September/October here in New England but I guess it is September tomorrow!
