Back to school is a phenomenon which I dealt with via my kids for probably 30 years between my older two children, then the younger two. DS is back for a semester this fall to finish up a certificate in cyber-security which he hopes will ultimately get him out of the restaurant industry. The DD's are done with the youngest getting her MBA this year. I can't imagine how hard it is to adjust to a new set of children every year (and in Peps case even more often of late apparently), new teaching methods periodically, and evolving school politics. Whew! It exhausts me just thinking about it.

I had an interesting thought that Mike and I may mull over the next 6+ months. Maybe I should sell my Cape Cod home, Mike sell his Florida condo, and we buy a nicer condo in Florida jointly, and use Mike's place here in the summer. Lots of time to decide.

We are off to Boston mid-day for the Eagles concert tonight! We are staying on the waterfront and eating in the Italian North End. If the weather is decent tomorrow we may poke around Boston most of the day. It will feel a lot like last year as masks are required indoors everywhere again but at least we can go. I was worried that the concert would be cancelled but they just added a requirement that attendees show proof of vaccination or a recent negative Covid test. People are saying all kind of negative things on FB about it with one extreme saying the concert should be cancelled and the opposite extreme saying they won't attend because their rights are being violated by being forced to prove their vaccine/Covid status. IMO, the first group has the right to not go and sell their tickets. The second group has the same right but need to get their head out of the sand.

Have a safe and healthy Friday!

That concert sounds awesome. Worth wearing a mask! My Aunt, who now lives in Ipswich, used to live in those white towers on the waterfront, by the Aquarium and the Marriott hotel. Loved that area. We would walk all over the North End whenever we stayed with them. Fun weekend ahead.

I will be doing nothing so glamorous. Going to get the oil changed in a few minutes. DH and I will probably go out to dinner when he gets off work on Sunday to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary. Its nice to commemorate, but we typically don't make a big deal out of it. I feel like we express our appreciation for each other frequently. He tells me he is lucky, and I know I feel that way.

This weekend I will turn my attention to food prep, to get the coming week off to a good start. Preparing is the first step.

Still doing my little workout everyday. Today, I am going to try a longer one. I figure I can always fit the 11 minute one in on even the busiest days, and on days I have more time, ill do a longer one. Even with this small, but consist change, I feel stronger, and some little aches and pains have subsided, and my posture is better when I walk. I think it helps my mood too, so it's all good.

Happy Anniversary on Sunday! The same day would have been my 40th with DH. I am not sure what I want to do except I don't want to sit in the house.

We are staying at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf tonight btw.

I had a really good omelette there at brunch many years ago :)

Not much to report here. Dinner out tonight, concert tomorrow (Old Crow Medicine Show). Rainy morning here, but it's going to be nearly 80, so steamy. Eating isn't horrible.

I did some weeding in my veggie garden yesterday and got 1 of the 8 beds covered in plastic. It's really thin plastic (the internet said to get the 1-2mm), so I am concerned it will tear around the garden staples holding it down. I may need to get bricks to weigh it down. Maybe a trip to the hardware store today.

For what purpose is the plastic? Weed prevention?

Yes for weeds. The weeds were completely out of control this year after they all went to seed last year when I wasn't here. Next summer I will try to solarize with the plastic to cook the seeds, but given the weeds will continue to grow through fall and it all starts growing again around late March (I don't get here until late May), I figured getting the plastic down now is my only hope of getting on top of the weed scourge. It's so bad!

I've had the opposite this year, as the drought slowed down the weed growth, even though I was watering my flower beds. A little weed pulling can be therapeutic, but out of control weeds does seem stressful.

This is "nuclear device required" level of weeds... Paths and beds are nothing but weeds. I weeded and weeded all summer and it still is this bad:

Makes me want to dump few a 55 gallon drums of RoundUp in there, except then the seeds I want wouldn't grow, plus, cancer...

Yes, way beyond therapeutic. What do people do, if not using poison like Round Up? Is roto tilling an option, or turning the beds (although that would be massive work too), or do the weeds and their seeds survive that? Hopefully the plastic works.
