Good morning!

My effective work out last night really did help my mood. I woke up today feeling pretty blue from yesterday's events. I will have to shake that off, for sure! Have to do a little attitude adjustment to have a good day.

I heard back from the Superintendent. Was a pleasant response, but typical - spinning district mandates into a positive. l had to chuckle when she called the district a "really healthy place" because my therapist keeps pointing out I work in a toxic environment. I hate to say it, but education is not a profession I would recommend to any young person. It's not what it once was. Plus at the elementary level the super majority of female staff creates a host of issues unique to schools.

Weight continues to be in the 263-265 range. While movement down the scale is VERY SLOW, I like that my weight is at least moving in the right direction.

Hope everyone's day is filled with pleasant and contented moments.

Good for you in speaking out and also in giving yourself a break from Dog Club responsibilities. Self care is so important.

Mike and I are at the track. Interesting environment. Saratoga Springs downtown is really cool too. We had a great meal out at a Tapas restaurant last night, though I will pass on the octopus next time. Kind of like dry chicken IMO.

I met some old friends of Mike's this morning and got a picture of him in his early 20's. Handsome young man with extremely dark hair.

Of course the floor refinishing guys called and are ready to start tomorrow though we won't be home until mid-day. DS is in Washington state for 2 weeks which complicates things. Luckily my SIL is available to let them in and indicate where the furniture should go.

It's never dull these days. Have a safe and healthy Wednesday.

I'm assuming you're in Florida, not California, correct?

We are in NY right now (back to Cape Cod tomorrow until October when we drive to Florida).

How funny! I read for days and days you and Mike were going to SaraSOTA Springs, not SaraTOGA Springs! Saratoga Springs makes more sense! I was wondering how you got there so quickly! LOL!

Schools are a rarefied work environment. My theory is that since there isn't really "promotion" opportunities, unless you want to be an administrator, people glom onto other things to feed their need for validation and/or power. Gossip, jockeying for being the favorite with the principal, fighting over who has the room with the best window, and actually creating situations that impede the progress of others. Most of my colleagues are awesome, but there are a few who consistently make my work harder. There are a special few that will cause me to not volunteer for something if they are also involved. And, because some are actually in my own department, I chose to apply for department chair just to prevent them from having the position, which they would have used to make people miserable. So, how many more years?

Today I met (virtually), with a genetics counselor regarding cancer. There isn't a huge, scary history of cancer in my family, but there are some concerns about my breast cancer, my uncles prostate cancer and my grandma's pancreatic cancer. These do sometimes have a genetic component. I'll be having a blood test, so no big deal. To me, the most valuable information would be if there is a genetic predisposition to pancreatic cancer. The geneticist said there are screenings for pancreatic cancer, be they are only used for people with the genetic concerns.

Last day of staycation, off to the beach soon.

Greetings All

We can smell the smoke here from the monument fire even though its 40 miles inland. Not much to be done except be grateful its not here. I have friends who are smoked out right now and camping in their van. But they are the lucky ones.

Peps and DD it makes me anxious just to read about school and club politics and conflicts! Dog clubs are notorious. I so remember working hard on getting things done only to have do nothing people sit and criticize. DD you are right about the behavior of groups of people in schools. I so remember my mom dealing with psychology dept politics at the university. And just imagine how that goes in a big law firm!!! So icky. Same kind of stuff happens in our dinky little gallery. The people who come up with the most criticism and complaints do the least amount of constructive stuff. One person thought we should refuse to participate in art night activities because whoever organized it did not contact us (read : her) soon enough. Same person thought we (meaning other people do the work) embark on an expensive, time consuming and impractical project.

Gallery board meeting tonight. We have not had one for months. I am going to move all the financial stuff to the first of the meeting so I can be done with my part and then drink wine while other people argue about advertising. We always argue about advertising as know one has any answers or agrees.

Chicken and broccoli last night. DH is off on a costco run which will likely result in a pan of enchiladas. Can't complain as I so hate cooking anymore.

Met with the bathroom remodel guy yesterday. I asked him if he was vaccinated and he said no but he already had covid. Not sure I want this crew in my house.

Poppy seems pretty well over her leg injury. She is a sweet little thing. We had to keep them in most of last evening due to skunk smell. Today skunk replaced by smoke.

Take care all. Diane S

I would be a little hesitant to have unvaccinated workers inside my home too, outside, not as much. I would appreciate however, that he was honest about it. Sadly though, antibodies from having had Covid might not be enough to prevent Delta, especially if it was awhile ago.

Cooking for a crowd went well yesterday. Today was another beautiful day. The prettiest week of the summer by far. We took a boat ride on the Chris Craft. I went to the grocery store (seems like a daily occurrence!) and got stuff to make a dessert for the garden club tea tomorrow. A little hiccup as one of the main ingredients they were out of (frozen phyllo dough cups), but I had already gotten everything else in my cart. I'll have to make my own. So much for an easy dessert, but I wasn't prepared to change recipes as I need enough for 45. Argh.

I offered up the last of my rugs on the local association's FB page and it was snapped up in minutes. Two very cute young sherriff's deputies came to get it.

Tonight we are going for a ****tail at the neighbors then to the boat to have pizza with Claudia's sister.

I should get hopping. Sending you all hugs.

Small town, but sounds like a lot going on, especially in your kitchen.?
