Last half of August already! Diane O, Happy Birthday! I hope you are enjoying it and are safe.
I am going to the beach for a couple of hours, then out to lunch with Mike and a friend of his. They are golfing this morning.
DD says that her BF has been hinting about a proposal but he alluded to nothing happening before October. I asked her if he got a bonus in September and she said that he gets a double commission then. Hmmm, maybe a wedding next year?
Mike and I are going to Saratoga Springs tomorrow for a couple of days to visit some of his former haunts from when he lived in the area and to go to horse racing on Wednesday. I have never gone so am looking forward to it. I hope tropical storm Fred doesn't bring rain on Wednesday!
Have a safe and healthy Monday.

I hope the weather cooperates in Florida. The possible storm scared us off for a quick 4 day trip. Lovely to hear your DD is so happy with her beau. Do you like him too?
Yesterday, we went to the Irish Fair in St. Paul. I think the "fair" part is rather sad, a few booths selling Iri****ems, a few food trucks selling nominally Irish food along with other boothes for window replacements and corn dogs and mini donuts. But the music, WOW! 8 "Wee Stages" and 2main stages. The smaller stages featured small groups playing traditional music, main stage more pop groups, on the U2 type mold. So fun. Also, my eating was good, at least volume wise. Had a small pastry with coffee for breakfast, and a corn dog for lunch. Dinner at home was healthier, a pear gorgonzola salad. :)
Today we're heading out to a tourist spot on the St Croix River (river divides Minnesota and Wisconsin). Might go on a river cruise to look at the bluffs. Time to get going :)

I developed a huge love for Irish music via DH. We used to go to lots of festivals,
Yes, I like DD's BF a lot - the best guy she has ever dated. Kind, firm, well-employed.

Greetings Friends
Sorry to be AWO. no excuse.
Poppy has a hurt leg. Not sure what happened - probably just chasing Tesla around. I called for emergency vet service and they blew me off. She goes in for a shot today and I will see what help I can get. I don't think it is broken or I would really be on the warpath at the vet clinic. Rats
I am afraid I am in a love affair with toasted buttered bagels. Only a little butter and only one per day. What I miss most from pre WLS days is carbs, not sweets. I got a roast chicken yesterday and split an ear of corn with dh plus the chicken. He just does not like that chicken and the dogs ended up with his share. Whats not to like? DH has a little iron deficiency and so I guess it will be cow meat for awhile.
A good friend who was fully vaccinated came down with covid. She is early 70's and a vigorous person. She felt pretty crappy but is now on the mend. No hospital or anything. She does a lot of volunteers work driving old folks to appointments and thats likely the culprit. Our county is having a new spike in covid and the sewage water in the nearby town tests really high for covid. Masking requirements have returned. We are a vacation destination and I think people come on vacation and break all the rules though folks at the gallery have been pretty good. I am sure sick of people who won't follow the rules and end up making others sick.
Liz Jimmy Buffets sounds fun. Live music is such a luxury now.
Shirley I feel for you being locked down but I think your government is doing the right thing to stop this pandemic.
Time to get organized for the day. its only 12:20 pm!!!!

The incidents of vaccinated people getting Covid is troubling. On everything holy, I do not want to wear a mask again when school resumes, but it seems like a necessary step to protect kids, especially kids who cannot be vaccinated yet. I feel like I'm in pretend world right now, the weather's nice, so we're outside by choice, the vaccination rate here is pretty decent, my loved ones are vaccinated...Right now, Covid is not really complicating my life. I feel like the other shoe is about to drop though, and things could get rough again this winter.
Earthquakes, tropical storms, wildfires, Covid19, etc... are horrible enough natural disasters, but now we also have stupid, pointless human carnage in Afghanistan....
I was going to go on a tangent about maskholes, but decided against it. When it is the right thing to do, just wear them for heaven's sake! You stop at stop signs, don't you? Idiots.... the lot of them (maskholes, I mean...)
Weight back down today. Big smile...
Not much else going on, but I do like to check in regularly.
