Good morning! Sorry I was somewhat missing in action the last couple of days - too much getting out early in the day. I love that Ocean Diane is visiting her daughter. And Peps new Goat is amazing: Glamping for sure!

Thursday we visited with friends on a very small peninsula just over the bridge from Cape Cod. Such a idyllic spot with beaches a street over, water views everywhere, and small quaint cottages populated by people who all know each other (our friend is related to perhaps 1/3 of them). Yesterday we went to Mike's beach and spent some time with his two daughters and son-in-law. Nice day! Today my son is leaving for Seattle to visit my brother for two weeks. My sick friend has finally received approval from doctors and insurance to be transferred to a rehab facility in New Hampshire 1/2 from his home there. Progress!

Mike, my two SILs, DD, some friends of DD, and I are going to an outdoor Jimmy Buffett concert today. I have mixed feelings about going as it will be unbelievably hot (heat index of 100). But DD is super excited and we have great seats. I hope there is enough shade under canopies.

Not much else going on right now though Mike and I leave Tuesday for a couple of days in Saratoga Springs. The summer is passing quickly!

Have a safe and healthy Saturday.

I hope you find some shade Liz! While a concert sounds fun, baking in 100 degree Sun doesn't.

We went to see Green Knight last night. I thought it was tedious and nonsensical. My daughter loved it, my husband liked it. DD tried to explain it was like the Odessey, the main character is on a quest, and random things happen before he can go home. Then I understood, because I don't really like the Odessey either!

I finally weighed myself. I hadn't weighed since we got back from vacation, so it had been over 2 weeks. It wasn't good news, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected either. It's data I needed. Weirdly, it helps me feel more resolved about eating well. I was having that all is lost feeling, and now I don't.

I'm looking for things to do on our staycation besides restaurants. There is an Irish Fair tomorrow we might check out.

I recognize that all is lost feeling. I do think the slower gain with VSG helps a lot to dampen what our minds think is expected gain. So when we find out the gain is less than that it helps in getting back on track. IMHO anyway.

Yes, this exactly.

As promised I stayed home. I slept until 9 am, proving I was indeed pretty darn tired. I am feeling rested and relaxed.

Weight is still elevated at 265, but like I said, that's way better than the 274 it climbed to earlier in the year. Anyhow, I'm feeling pretty good in my skin these days. Part of the reason, I think, is I'm beginning to realize that some of the tapes that play in my head aren't mine!

After a full morning of leisure I will putter around here and do some odds and ends type of chores: sorting mail, catching up on bills, vacuuming, etc.... Maybe I will even have some time to get my toes did! LOL!

Liz, the concert sounds like fun - if you have shade!!! If not, I'd be dying! You all can laugh, but there is a big difference to me between dry CA (desert) heat and the humid heat you have on the Atlantic coast. I can handle dry desert heat. Humidity just kills me!

Diane O. hope your NY visit is going well. DD, enjoy the staycation!

There has been a lot of hype and misinformation circulating regarding the COVID19 Delta variant. I found this article from Johns Hopkins (published 8/2/21) quite helpful. https://www.jhsph.edu/covid-19/articles/new-data-on-covid-19 -transmission-by-vaccinated-individuals.html

I wish more people would read REAL science based articles rather than getting their information from Dr. FaceBook.

I'm 1000% with you on humid heat vs. dry!

Thanks for the link, I'm going to read the article right now.

A day on my own. My dad and his wife went to Cape Cod (Osterville?) for the weekend to celebrate my dad's and his former business partner's 80th birthdays with other former colleague couples. I will try not to rub it in that they are missing a fabulous weather day here - 72, not a cloud, breezy warm dry wind. They flew into Hyannis airport so hopefully didn't catch much Friday traffic.

I walked this morning and spent most of the afternoon on a chaise on the deck. Liz, I believe my leg color rivals yours!

Yesterday I got my hair cut and colored. My first haircut since May as I have had issues in the past with her cutting it. I always say a 1/2 inch and show her with my fingers and she ends up taking 2 inches. This time I tried to be as clear as possible. So I lost very little in length, but she cleaned up the layers a lot in the back and I have to admit, the shape is so much better.

Eating hasn't been super, but I am fighting to keep myself from buying bad things. It can be a physical fight! Today it was fighting with my cart to stay out of the chip aisle. I won. Small victories.

Avoiding chips is a big deal small victory.
