I will do a very quick good morning. I need to drive out to my parents house. My Mom is having a very hard time these last couple of days. I'll check in again this evening. Hope its a good day for everyone!

Greetings all

Another lazy day for me and DH. Our puppy Poppy seems to fit right in to our lifestyle. Everyone in the house is napping except me.

Studio day today though I did not get much done. Picked up some chicken and roast veggies at the deli. Cooking continues to be an unfavorite activity.

We watched a new series called Mosquito Coast these past few days. Many years ago there was a movie with the same name and a similar plot. Kind of good. Ditto The Flight Attendant which was a crime thriller.

There are fires about 50 miles inland and the highway is closed. A bit of ash on the car yesterday but nothing to worry about. I am trying to convince the galleries to get air purifiers as much for smoke and pollen as for Covid.

DD sorry your mom is having a hard time. No fun to have an ailing parent at some distance. Keep us posted.

5pm so the cycle begins: inane local news, national news, feeding the dogs, feeding dh, binge watching tv. Tomorrow:repeat.

SO... just between us - I hate to admit that I thought our 1 year was kind of a big deal. Mike gave me a beautiful necklace at 6 months. Today he gave me some fairly ****ty grocery store roses. Lunch and dinner out were good but I planned them. And I bought myself 2 pairs of silver hoops today. I thought he might ask me to marry him today. Everything has been so good lately and life has felt so short. Stupid me. I love him but I am so disappointed- between us please.

Oh Liz, I'm sorry to hear that. My DH wa**** or miss with romanti****asions. He's better now, but I remember the sting of gas station roses or sometimes nothing at all. But he is also the man that got out of a warm bed on an icy winter day to back my car out of a ditch ( a car did a 360 in front of me, so I had to go in the ditch and was afraid I would just get myself stuck trying to get out so I called him). I think Mike is that guy too. But none the less, I'm sorry you were hurt on what should have been a happy day.

I agree that Mike is like that - he walks the dog rain or shine every morning and last thing at night.

Can't really "like" this post, but wanted to say, "I get it." I'm not a very romantic person. I feel deeply, but am not great at making a big deal out of anniversaries, etc.... I also understand very much unspoken hope that blossoms into disappointment. I've had a lot of that.

Hoping to find some time to write a decent post in the next day or two. Way too much going on right now..... Nothing bad, but too, too busy. Students return on 8/11! I am pathetically unprepared.
