Half of July is officially over! And it is gloomy this morning AGAIN (though it is supposed to clear mid-day).

DS and I are going shopping this morning for a cookout tonight with a few neighbors and the graduation party for DD on Saturday. Thank goodness DS is the planner/cook as I don't have the desire these days to do do all the work for these things. I probably would have either catered it or stuck to burgers/dogs and a purchased salad, LOL.

Along the lines of not having the desire for party planning, I realized that I don't have the strength or energy for projects which I used to take on without batting an eye. We thought we would put together a fire pit for Saturday but when Mike and I looked at the kit at Lowe's, the pavers and the fire ring weighed 860 pounds! We would have had to have them delivered, then carry each block individually into the back yard. We both found the prospect unimaginable and I had to tell DD that we are just too old to accompli**** I HATE to admit that.

Anyway, time to finish my coffee and get ready to go to the store. Have a safe and healthy Thursday!

Gloomy here too, Liz! But sun coming this weekend.

Still working on eating better. Overall, it looks better than a week ago, but I still have a long way to go. I've started eating overnight oats. Lots of recipes on the internet. Very filling with lots of fiber to keep things moving...

I walked 6 miles yesterday. Might go for a hike today as the houseguests are still here and the husband is annoying af (as the kids say these days. Pardon my abbreviation French!). Everything you say is turned into a double entendre or answered with a sarcastic comment to make a joke out of what you said. I can't take it anymore and am fresh out of fake laughter. How his lovely wife lives with it, I don't know. We went to dinner last night at a nice restaurant and the waitress asked him for his drink order. He wanted gin with an olive and ****tail onion. She came back and told him they didn't have onions and could she get him something else? He said, "you can get in your car and drive and get me some onions ha ha ha..." How embarrassing. The rest of us sat silently as he tried to make more of a joke out of it after she left the table. Ugh. They leave tomorrow.

Shirl, did I read right that you all are back in lockdown again? I'm sorry!

Peps, looking forward to seeing your yard pics!

Liz, I would have balked at 860 pounds too...

DD, Good luck with the low carb!

DianeO, as a late sleeper, I would still acknowledge that 8:30 is a reasonable start time for yard work.

Isn't it amazing when a good person ends up with a jerk like your friend's husband? Maybe he is not like that when alone with her (one can only hope).

I stir PB2 into overnight oats sometimes to add flavor and/or SF maple syrup. Haven't had it for a while - sounds good!

Liz, no doubt you COULD do the fire pit project if you really had to. But since you don't, I would bow out too. I find my entertaining mojo comes and goes now. When I'm in the mood, I cook. When I'm not, I can buy a lot of great stuff at Costco :)

Oh my gosh Cecily, the house guest indeed sounds insufferable. There should be some type of psychological diagnosis to describe these annoying bores.

Wish I could share some of our good weather. It was a soaking rain yesterday, (very needed)and now, bright blue sky, Sun and the freshest of breezes. High 70s forecasted. The 90s are coming back next week. For now, everything is green and lush.

My plans for today ate minimal, just attending to life's chores, some gardening, some reading. The rain kept me indoors yesterday, so the house is pretty tidy.

The lower carb seems to be doing something for now. Scale is moving each day after not moving at all when I was doing weigh****chers. I don't know if I have it in me to do super low carb, but what I'm eating right now is fine. I think the weigh****chers program is pretty well designed and really encourages good, healthy choices. It does skew pretty low fat though, and for whatever reason, I do better with more fat, fewer carbs, even the good carbs weigh****chers encourages. Anyhow, how I'm eating this week is still pretty healthy, so no harm done, even if I don't lose.

I received an email from the theater regarding our Broadway season tickets. They are going to start with shows in October. (Our first show is November). Masks will be required for staff and patrons. I remember I said many times, I will wear a mask if that's what it takes to return to theater, now I guess I will prove it.

Missing our other tribe members, check in please :)

Low fat makes me cranky... well, cutting anything makes me cranky, but definitely low fat.

As I was leaving to hike, I passed my dad and his friend walking the dog on the road. So I stopped the car to tell him I was leaving to go hike. The friend said, "Where are you going?" I said, "Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore." He guffaws and says, "What, are you going to take a nap up there?" I couldn't even muster a fake laugh. I just looked him in the eye and said, "Yes" then said goodbye to my dad. It's like a relentless bad vaudeville routine.

The grad party and tonight's dinner are going to end up being approx $20 per person. Not bad for steak tips/salmon tonight and chicken/steak on Saturday along with lots of fancy salads, veggies, appetizers and beer/wine/soda (small quantity of beer/wine per person).

Very nice! Definitely not hot dogs and hamburger fare!

I am feeling pretty good today. Had a shrink appointment on Tuesday, worked out with the trainer on Tuesday evening and again yesterday on my own at my new little neighborhood gym. Have a training session today at 5 pm.

As I work on the emotional aspect of my journey through life, I find that breakthroughs come in fits and spurts. I recently had a bit of a break through concerning some emotional abuse I endured as a child, teen, and young adult. Working through that is helping me find some long lost confidence and self appreciation and self worth. It is profound how words can scar and influence life for decades after they have been uttered.

As the construction is winding down things are not progressing as they should. I demanded that the electrical work done on Tuesday be redone. It was done so poorly (UGLY and obvious). My point was finally made when I looked straight at the fellow and said, "Would you be happy with this work at your house?" He just stared at me, didn't answer, but stopped being defensive and started rethinking the work. By the end of the day I was very pleased with the redo. Why he didn't just do it right the first time!

Water heater on the GOAT is not working! We are leaving again next Wednesday, so I have to see what can be done ASAP!

School starts back up for me the first week of August. Boooooooo! I can't believe students return on August 11.

Good for you standing up the electrical guy! I know that's uncomfortable, but right is right!
