Good morning! Mike and I are at a hotel next to my old hometown. We drove here yesterday for DD's friend's engagement party. DD did all the planning and work after the Bride-to-be's Mom decided she didn't want to do it though she had initiated it originally. I ended up being the stand-in for the Mom who didn't even show. Thank yous and tears from Bride-to-be. So sad that a parent would do that!
I almost did a stupid thing though - I had forgotten that DS was also going and hadn't made arrangements for Justice. Thankfully SIL offered to watch him but my fallback would have been bringing him and leaving him with a friend of DDs.
We were going to go to Newport, RI today but due to rain we will head back directly to Cape Cod. We might reschedule Newport for tomorrow as it is only about an hour away from there.
A busy week here as DS is having a cookout with a few neighbors at my house on Wednesday, we are going for dinner with Mike's sisters on Thursday and I am hosting a graduation cookout for DD's masters degree at my home on Saturday. Whew!
And I have to try to toe the line on not overeating/drinking. Have a safe and healthy Monday!

Liz, I am really struggling with all the food we have around because of socializing/entertaining. We have a quieter week than you, so I'm hoping to be more focused this week.
I'm still upset about my parents poor choices. I don't know what to do going forward. They push back against help, but then they create problems we (I) have to solve, but worse, much worse, they endanger themselves.
Our stretch of stellar weather continues. DH and I are going kayaking today.
I finished another book, The Bee Keeper of Allepo. Different genre than the previous books, it's the story of Syrian Refugees. Beautifully written, heartbreaking. Recommend highly, but be prepared, what refugees experience in this story is so sad, but something we need to know about. Despite its sorrow, it also is about the resiliency of hope.
Happy trails everyone!
I met a woman in my Alzheimer's caretaker support group whose parents were in their 90's, both with early dementia. They refused help and wouldn't even let the kids in the house at times so they couldn't criticize or try to take over. What a difficult situation!
