Sunday, July 4, 2021 - Independence Day
It is still gray and gloomy here, with temperatures in the low 60's and probable showers. Not a great day for BBQs, though we are going to one this afternoon.
Yesterday we were able to go on a short bike ride with Mike's grandchildren between showers. They are fun kids and I enjoyed the ride and meeting their friends. They are all staying at Mike's home here on Cape Cod this week. We will go back Tuesday for the day for beach time and dinner at the house with everyone. Mike is going to get stuffed quahogs (aka clams), lobsters and corn for the meal. A true Cape Cod feast!
We went out to breakfast as we usually do on Sunday mornings and DS came with us. That was really nice. DS was talking about what he wants to do once he finishes the training program he is in and mentioning that he will probably have to relocate. So maybe I will get my privacy back which would be really great. I love my son but I don't think it is good for either of us (or Mike) to live in the same home indefinitely.
Not much else to report except that too much food was consumed yesterday and probably will be today. REALLY time to dial back!
Have a safe and healthy Independence Day!

Happy 4th!
Ocean Diane, I'm glad you are feeling relief! I actually thought C (i'm dropping the D, cuz he is no longer dear or darling!) would stay in NY. Didn't realize he was setting up house in FL, too. Given his emotional issues and reliance on you, one would think he'd be more comfortable in a familiar local.
Liz, sorry the weather is not cooperating. Glad DS has some plans for the future that include independence! I have to say though, that it is really hard for young people along the eastern and western seaboards to become financially independent today. The cost of living is ridiculous! Just saw 2 bedroom 1400 sq. foot condos in Walnut Creek, CA listed for 1.2 - 1.5 million. Think of the monthly mortgage on that, which doesn't even include insurance, tax or common fees. I could not afford my own neighborhood any longer, if I were in the market to move!
Diane S., hope the company doesn't exhaust you! When will you be puppy free?
Shirl, your pics tell such a lovely story. They reminded me how much I enjoyed our dinner at The Dead Fish. Please give my best to John. I am looking forward to the next time!
Ceci, so glad to read you have been stepping outside of your comfort zone to socialize. I know how hard that can be. Loneliness can be debilitating, but it's easy. Proud of you!
My latest session with the nutritional counselor was a bit re-directive. It sort of bummed me out. I am really depleted from almost 10 years of strong focus on weight-eating-emotional issues. I don't have anything left in my tank at this point.
Luckily, we have another wonderful weather day here. BBQ at my brother''s tonight. Hoping to see the close by fireworks from his backyard.
Lots of grooming to get done, RV to get ready, etc....
4th of July celebration, mostly done. :) DH, DS, DD, and DS 's girlfriend are down in our park setting off fireworks. Legal in Wisconsin where they were purchased, not legal here. I can't stand the stress of waiting for horrendous personal injury, so I opted out.
Yesterday we spent 8 hours (!) at brother in law's 65th birthday. So much fun with nieces and nephews, and my husband's cousins etc. One niece announced a pregnancy, another an engagement. Life!!!!
Today we went to the beach, and my BFF's son and his family joined us. So fun to play in the water with the little kids. It was 95 degrees and sunny, the water was definitely the place to be. We all left exhausted. We had a simple supper, sat on the porch watching the neighborhood shows (also illegal****il my family headed down to the park. They have returned, in high spirits, with all digits and eyes intact. So I declare the day a success.
Your day definitely was a success!
